SP map conversions by MaxiKing6

Hello community!

A while ago, I spent my time converting SP maps to make them playable in MP. My conversions include all maps from Invasion of Normandy, Operation Market Garden, Liberation of Caen, Tiger Ace, La Fiere Causeway and Trun.
Every map has its loading screen, map preview and KI works in most cases.
If you are interested, feel free to post. I'll also upload single maps because I don't think someone actually wants e.g. Omaha Beach for MP (though the poll makes me believe that I'm wrong in this point).

That sounds great! There are some good maps in the Normandy Campaign that were never made MP :/ (Though I don't know about the others  ::))

Would love to see those conversions! And no, I don't think a Omaha Beach MP Map would look so good xD Gives whichever team is on top of the cliff a huge advantage.

What are your concrete wishes then?  :)

Did you asked the "real" mapper of the maps already that you are allowed to publish them for MP?

many people uses campaign maps. Like in BK mod.

Okay Arnhem is on my list and I will upload it tomorrow.

Also I'll create a poll where everyone can state his/her (:P) favourite map that he/she wishes to be uploaded.

@walki1: Like cephalos said, there are many conversions already that are also used by mods officially. If Relic would disagree with the release of these conversions, I would have recognised it. I see no point why I shouldn't be allowed to change the maps a little. I take no credits for making them, just for converting.

And i agree with BurroDiablo that Arnhem would be great. Do you think you could make it so Panzer Elite start with the same units, and the Brits still surrender? ;D

I know that many of them are already done, I did them in mid-late 2009, so some of the already existing ones are younger than mine.

Making them able to surrender will need SCAR code; the problem is that when you use SCAR in MP maps, you can't win the game, even if you destroyed all enemy buildings so there's an eternal camping in the end.

If you still wish to have surrender in MP, check this.

About the PE starting units (I think you mean the King Tiger and the Panzer IV here :P):
I can make it for you personally, but not for the official MP version, because it f***s balance.

That was sarcasm, man...

But, yeah, it seems pretty redundant to add your own multiplayer maps from the campaign when they have already been done by relic.

Just a note, you might want to put that up to 3 or 4 choices for each person, It's hard to vote for just 1!

For this I'd need a new poll in a completely new topic because there is not an option for this when I just add the poll to the topic. I'll create the new topic then.

@pariah: The maps done by Relic are not the complete SP maps, mostly just a part of them.

Oh, O.K., so you're just slightly modifying the maps for multiplayer, rather than the essential reimagining that some are?

This is correct. I just add territory if not there already, I add the bases for the players (at locations where I think it fits best for both optic and gameplay) and remove the SP objects (e.g. invisible control structures, ralley points, SCAR markers and wntity groups). Then I open Photoshop and create the preview pics.

It is, but I thought 3 is a good number. Not too many maps to upload, because I have only 60kb/s upload speed.

These maps are non altered maps from the single player missions converted to work in mp by me. If you have them already, fine.

EDIT: At those who voted for Arnhem, how many players would you like the map to have? Looks like it'll be the first one to upload.

3v3

Anyone disagreeing/agreeing with him?

I'm cool with 3v3 Arnhem right now, but it'll be easier to tell once we know where you are going to put the start locations.

For Chambois, I think a 2v2 would be appropriate, 3v3 at the max. It's not large enough for a 4v4.

@ pariah: Take a look at this:



Blue is 2p or 4p, red is 6p. The points in the middle represent the victory points assigned to the version with same colour.

@Cranialwizard: Did I state it as 8p ? If, then I will have to change it because it's actually 6p version I did ;)

EDIT: It's listed as 3v3, so everything's allright I hope. :)

Wow, that's a fair bit smaller than i remembered from the campaign. :-[ Maybe 2v2 would be best? :-\

Nah, it's alright, mate; Eastern Front is so much more important than my computer, so it takes priority. And when it comes to P.C. upgrades, there is little difference between $250 and $500 anyway...

Ooops, I changed the option that the poll results are viewable for everyone (thought it meant that you can see them before you even voted, I wanted to prevent users from voting for maps because others vote for 'em and make it pay off to vote because you can just see the results after voting)

The map I'm working on is just in the beginning phase and needs a lot of work. It's gonna be named "The beginning of the end" or something else if the community suggests other names. I'm gonna make it for EF and an other mod whose mod leader I promised one further map after my first one released (Road to Carentan, see my signature). :)

Tomorrow, if I have nothing to do, but I fear school and rl business won't let me do this until weekend. Maybe I'm going for shooting some screens now.  :)

Maxi! Amazing work! I played both maps (And your road to carentan  :D) and I must say I'm very pleased! I haven't noticed any major bugs, the only one I see is that you can't capture the north most point (The one on the bridge entry) from your tactical map. You have to return to the battle and manually order that to happen, but it's so minor I wouldn't mind it so much.

Excellent :) I'm going to love these, they should be inputted into EF so we can use them in regular matches, these maps are quite well balanced.

If you tell me again, which one of the maps is affected by the bug described by you, I'll fix it as soon I'm at home again.

I feel honour if you say that my maps should be included in EF, but I think that won't be possible due to the different theaters (Normandy/Holland maps don't really fit Eastern Front, do they?).

For this purpose I will as I said before, create a map exclusively for EF and see if it will be taken. :)

Oh, my apologies, never mentioned the map in excitement xD.

It happens on Arnhem. Though I'm not sure if it's a bug or just me, but when I highlighted units, separate and in groups on the tactical map the capture command wasn't possible.

I'll test it in some minutes and maybe work on Vierville Paradrop (4).

That will be the next one after Vierville. I just added the poll to get some sort of priority :)

Please, do the Carentan after that. It would be almost a perfect map, if not for the bridges, IMO.
