EF 2v2 Tournament 2

Brackets are already made and the organisator Dennis is not on. I would be glad if you could make it in. AT least you can always play if a team can´t play :)

Sorry guys, it WAS a deadline for a reason. However, I'll put you both in as reserve teams if someone else is unable to play or doesn't want to anymore.

Start arranging your game times with your opponents guys but only play if 1.502 is out. Both Reborn teams have made it in due to a couple teams not playing.

As my team took another brazilian team on the Round 1, there is no problem about the game arrangement. But for Round 2 may be, because i'm probly have to take a work travel on 3 september :/.

I have a few hour window to play tonight between 6 and 10pm Central Standard Time (USA).  Tomorrow will be a no-go due to my folks coming into town for the weekend.  Add me on Xfire (Budwise) and we can get the games going.

Anyways if you think about it if GLD defeats all the high players, then near the end he will only face low lvl players.

Vicariously, if the high lvl players beat him and then each other up, they'll still be stuck with low lvl players.

Anyways everyone just HF and GL. And I'm not a moderator but no name calling if you can refrain from it :P and dont be a sore loser or winner :P

@Zuzundra: You need to wait for 1.502 I think ???

Dennis, can you change the Deadline to Saturday for Round 1? People are starting to worry and we haven't even got the hotfix out yet.

We don't have to change the deadline just yet, we still have more than 24 hours, which is more time than we have for round 2, So it should still be cool

OT but how many tournaments have there been ??? Im new thats why :P

If Budwise doesn't want to play and Zuzundra will be too intoxicated :P, then we could take ther opponents and have them face off. Just a thought :).

As for the person who will not have a partner in round 2, seeme and his teammate (apparently :P) can face off against them. Or however is in the reserve :P

What will happen if one team does not show to a match, will they forfeit? Seems like my opponent wants to go drinking tomorrow... and quite frankly I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow as well but I can certainly make time after 3:30 PM in my timezone.

I think we're gonna have to restructure the tourney bracket, because I don't think any team should have a free win.

When is 1.502 coming out. If not tmmrw then the dates are going to have 2 be changed ???

I have run a lot of CoH tournaments as I was the Senior Ref on GR for a long time before I moved to Admin (and i still help run the tournies).

Biggest Problems:
1) No seeding - Very bad.  Leads to rape finals and blowouts.
2) No set time - This rarely ever works, in other words expect 50% of the games not to be played.  You need to set a time and have a "check in" system for a tourny this small.  Dont make the brackets until everyone who is going to play is present if possible.  Then make the brackets (only takes 2 minutes) and let everyone start.  If people want to play more games then make it double elim or group stages.
3) Never schedule a tourny during patch time.  Obviously shit can break.

I think there is no set time b/c there are people from all around the world :P. So if there is one set time then some people cant make it :(. Hence, games must occur b4 a certain date. But yes, its a bit confusing ???

Thats the nature of the beast but you gotta go with it anyway.  We have found that 5PM GMT is the best starting time for world wide play and importantly you have to do it on Saturday and/or Sunday.  If you dont and you schedule a game between someone in the US and someone in Australia its never going to happen anyway.  You absolutely must set a time and stick with it.

Sorry for the late patch guys. I was very sick yesterday so I couldn't hurry things along and it seems like the other guys dragged their feet a little. I need opinions on whether round 1 deadline should be pushed back to midnight Saturday.

It was vs Killer, and we both rofld several times at a few moments and abilities he used. xD

Let me put it this way, I played Russians first and didnt even know about the sniper changes among others so i was running around not knowing wtf to do.  I didnt pick a doc til the last 2-3 minutes as I didnt need one and I won very easily.

He then went Russians and used every ability to its extent and it went down to the final 50VP's for both of us and I finally gave up to the hoard that was unsuppressable/unkillable infantry that could kill my bunkers/tanks/88s/infantry with ease vs everything the defensive doc has.

I didnt save the replays, he might of i dunno.

Perhaps you can play a friendly match with Dennis?  I'm sure you two can talk about your balance concerns over a 1v1 in a respectful way.  Maybe you can try to use those said OP tactics on Dennis when he plays Axis, for example, and show him how its so OP, and you two can discuss it like pals.    :)

Guys when do you guys often online ? Just have a match with Dennis and Yauz but after that can't find an EF room.

we have to forfeit because we cannot make the only time our opponents wanted to play. a midnight start is imo unreasonable.

Clearly there's some issues here with people's arrangements. Also, the patch is STILL yet to be released so we have no choice but to postpone for a day or week. Need votes now, are we to delay for 1 day or 1 week?

Why don't we postpone a full week. Due to abandonment issues and the patch not released it's causing confusion.

I'm good either way, but a week may give us more time to sort out the
brackets, make sure of who wants to participate, and who can't anymore.
Maybe make everyone sign up again?

Bring the patch out a full week before the date of the tourney. Set it at Saturday or Sunday. Release it on gr forums in the NEWS section and in the TOURNEY section.

Meeting on Mumble at Saturday or Sunday 5pm GMT. If you don´t have a mic it doesn´t matter. You can still write on the chat. Then make the brackets and play.

If you want to take part in the tourney you can download and install this little mumble tool. Takes only 5 mins ;)

I can't play next weekend  :-\

This is NOT the Balance Forum; this is a tournament thread.
Take it elsewhere, or simply don't bother starting the crap in the first place.

Now. Real life; for all those who forget; is the core section of our lives. EF is a hobby; gaming is a good bit of entertainment.
Getting overly angry and bitchy because people find themselves unable to play due to correctly placed priorities is simply childish (as is pages of arguments funnelled directly from your hate of losing - or using masses of smilies Seeme ;)).

On the other hand...tournaments are a nice bit of competitive fun; however, if you do think you might not be able to make it, or something might come up; then either don't sign-up in the first place, or pick a more likely date from the get-go (Friday for example, when you may, or may not be doing something is clearly a stupid choice; we want 100% likeliness of you being available).
This may just be a game, but that doesn't stop the annoyance of being cancelled on last minute in any stretch of life; so simply put, try have a little forethought and some courtesy for others if you plan on joining a small scale tournament.
Simply plan ahead (individually and as a tournament) and this will be less of a problem.
