I wonder which one would be the last one... probably Egypt.

Re: Total war: Rome II

So Egypt is announced and looks awesome. I also love how in the Egyptian picture it shows the pikemen with different shields, which is fantastic. I also like how it seems they've made Egypt more of a successor state (which it was) compared to vanilla RTW where Egypt was New Kingdom style with chariots and big hats.

However, it's also interesting that there is now a 9th space on the faction list, which will hopefully be some Greek state or alliance. If not, Pontus would an interesting choice as a small-starting faction.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

It will be a free DLC released at day one :).

I hope they release the Greek states as DLC as well :). Either free or not I'd have it ;D!

Re: Total war: Rome II

Free Day 1 DLC? Why don't they just add it to the base game? I suppose there's a reason. :P

Re: Total war: Rome II

As the main game design is supposed to be done, all the additional stuff they add would be considered DLC. Otherwise they would never finish the main game if they keep adding new factions later :P.

Re: Total war: Rome II

Haha I totally picked it. This is good news because most of the Eastern/Greek factions so far have been quite large starting factions and I always find it nice to start small and build the empire the way you want it.

I think another reason for the day 1 DLC is from a marketing perspective. They want to make the DLC seem user-friendly and easily accessible to people so they buy future ones. A lot of people are turned off by DLC because they see it as annoying or unnecessary and I think this aims to change this. I personally like DLC (although many people don't) so long as the base game is complete and stands on its own. Releasing DLC that should be part of the base game is a no-no IMO but I'm happy to support developers that continue to show commitment to their product and release new things.

I don't think they will release a Greek alliance anymore. There's word that there's 117 factions across 180ish provinces (regions?), which means it's similar to Shogun where lots of clans own one territory. So it's very likely that there will be individual Greek states like Athens or Corinth and that they are strongly aligned to each other at the beginning.

Re: Total war: Rome II

Now it is my turn to say that I have picked it ;D!

Total War: Rome 2 will now have as first paid DLC the Greek Allied States in the form of three different and playable factions:

Athens

Epirus

Sparta

Each faction seems to have unique units. This DLC will be free for those one who pre-order it.

P.S. As a curious note, I just visited Total War site "for the lulz" and noticed the new stuff, then I run to PC Game and they had an article covering it :P.
