Sublime EF Shoutcasts & Replaypacks

This topic will be here in the Community Events Section rather than in the Replays Section because it deserves more views, and the fact that this should be considered a community event anyways.

We (Sublime) are a group of friends who play the EF mod, and we think that Company of Heroes is one of the best games ever, with EF being the best CoH mod.

This first post will contain all the EF shoutcasts we will do from now on.

We are doing this as part of an effort to improve the activity of the Eastern Front mod in general.  If you like our shoutcasts, feel free to comment on why.  If you want to hate on us, thats OK too, but please do so constructively.  We would like to know how we can improve our shoutcasts as well.  Sublime members will shoutcast replays that we feel are worthy here, but if you feel you also have a nice replay worthy of shoutcasting, feel free to PM it to either Snugz or myself, with some particular interesting facts about the replay (why it's shoutcast worthy) and we will look into it.  We will try to do 1 to 2 shoutcasts a week if we can squeeze the time.

Replay Guidelines
-Must be Standard Resource
-Must be 500 VP
-No bridge maps
-Must include Soviets in some way
-Preferably historically accurate  (ie: No Soviet / Western Allies team-ups)
-Cold War match ups are cool, but unbalanced, because strafing conscripts makes baby Stalin cry.
-Preferably smaller games (ie: 1v1s & 2v2s)
-Fuck the RMC

A lot of people are asking about the skins / models / sounds.  All Sublime Shoutcasts will use my personal skins / models & sound collections.  This stuff is NOT included in the base installation of the EF Mod.  The EF Mod does not touch the Relic factions in any way.

Are you a politically sensitive pussy?  Or do you just have shit taste?  No worries!  All Sublime Shoutcasts will have a download link to the replay that is being shoutcasted.  You can always watch the replays with your own default Relic skins if you so choose to.  Sublime Shoutcasts will always start at the 0 second mark, and we will always do a time sync whenever we first unpause.

I was being "uber defensive" b/c I was Wher and I sorta took some advice way too far. Next time I'll take it with a grain of salt. Also I like being a "turtle player". And honestly my micro kinda sucks XD

On a scale of 1 - 10 how were we (neos and me) playing? Be honest :P. But dont be mean XD. IDK if you only watched the game from neos point but if you did see what I did then can I know some things I should have done?

I didn't watch from your perspective, with FOW turned on for review purposes, so I can't go too deep into the details of your gameplay.  IMO both of you were playing at around the 5 range, 10 being the best.  I saw many times you moved in time when you saw Neo's troops starting to throw grenades.  IMO Neo had better unit choice than you did, but overall your macro and unit preservation were better.  You could have used that puma to help defend the middle that time Neo pushed with his KV1 and infantry, but I think that was already discussed in the shoutcast.

Yeah the KV-1 scared me :-X. So I had my Puma run for its life. And honestly I didnt realize the AT gun was even firing on my 1st Puma until it was too late :'(

I had the bunkers in such a dumb position b/c neos had already sent 3 partisans there. Wasn't sure if there'd be a 4th XD

BTW I like you unit skins and the different pictures (like for firestorm) You made those urself?

We only reviewed the game from Noesdarks perspektive, because he specifically requested we did so (maybe we should follow both sides next time?) The purpose of this shoutcast was to try and point out what mistakes Neo did that made him loose the game. We tried to be honest -  not rude, and i hope you didnt take a comment the wrong way (we commented abit on yours aswell).
About the game? Even tho it was lowskill it was actually alot fun to watch! no spoilers sry :P

No I dont take any of this offensively. I did say before hand I was a "noob" so I dont find anything wrong with ur comments. I actually found some funny at times :D("The CS is just sitting there, masturbating..." XD). Me and neos should do more "noob tube" games XD

You always could do both sides next time. I remember watching a shoutcast where one person watched from one perspective and another person watched from the other players perspective and they compared stuff. However it may get complicated and its ur shoutcast so I leave that to you ^-^

Double tapping backspace resets the camera angle Yauz.

I had chest pain through the second half of that game. Ugh, why were so many strategic mistakes made.... Something that the Sublimes didn't mention was your doctrine choice Neo. I don't think you made the best of the abilities, since you didn't use Sturmovie, phosphorous nades, SU-122, FTML, and only had one Sniper ace. You also sacrificed a massive amount of the partisans. A single SU-122 supported by your KV-85s would've done better than 2 partisan squads at killing infantry, bunkers and Paks.

Also, munitions... While Soviet munitions income is broken you should take full advantage and call in lots of arty strikes from Sniper Ace and Observer teams. It would've helped dramatically against Fish's stationary units. Mines on the VPs would've also been a good idea.

You weren't very confident with your AT. It was being too passive through most of the match and facing the wrong way often. It would be best to move it up when you attacked near the pumas and then fall back to the outpost when you needed it.

Early on, you should've OPed the fuel outside your base, since you could've gotten the KV-1/85s sooner.

I thought that fish was too passive. He could have gotten a nebelwerfer and supported his grens with it.

Very nice cast guys! Epic sniper fail at the beginning lol. Neo, you should ALLWAYS use attacking move when ordering your snipers to the battlefield, in case you just forget them. I also missed mines in that game. But please try to lower your in-game sounds next time a bit. I hardly couldnt hear your voice when the MG was shooting. Looking forward for more casts...

Nice shoutcast!

I liked that neo chose KV tanks instead of t34. This is the correct map to do so (Hardly flanking, so you need strong frontal armor protection). Also the doctrine choise was correct, but i hardly did see sturmovies. He should have built them much earlier and equip them with double flamers. He had the mun for it.

Pls for the next shoutcast no ingame music and lowering the sounds so you can hear what is talked about.

Looking forward to new shoutcasts aswell

Thanks for the comments guys.  I'll try to lower all sounds to 75% then, and also thank you Dennis for the double tap to reset the camera tip; its very useful.  If you want to see any new shoutcasts any time soon, you guys all must contribute some EF games for us to work with!  Post some games with the current patch (any games after the snowman BS patch) please!

as you already said both had many times chances to win

fish was too defensive and neo sometimes too aggressive

but after the good words i have also some proposals for improvements (looking forward to you next shoutcast :D)

the 1st i would use for a shoutcast no skinpacks (especially no swastikas)
2nd would be nice if you could say in the next shoucast something more about the players and why you choose this replay (a little opening)

i have no 3rd point atm :D

There is only 2 problems with your review.

First turn off the fog of war. And let the one commentator follow the other player.

Second then there are problems with the sound. I run with 5.1 surround and I do not know if it has anything to do with the problem, but I do not think it has.
The problem is that every time one of you says something then the music and sound effects goes up and down. It is a little annoying.
Another thing with the sound is that the sound from the game maybe is a little too high, especially the Music.
otherwise the rest is good stuff. :)

We are definately going to turn the sound lower in the next shoutcast so ouer voices can be heard a little bit better :P About the fog of war? We did this because we wantet to follow Neosdark ONLY - as we were in his footsteps. The shoutcast was a review were we wantet to point out Neos mistakes and screwups only from his veiw - to help him.

Little hint to you guys, Snug and Yau: Put on headphones on while recording your shoutcast, stream the games audio and video with fraps and record your voices with a seperate recording software so you can lower/raise the volume of your voices later on and put your recorded voices together with the video when you're done recording. Makes everything easier  ;)

Thats sounds like a good idea, we might try that out and see if its better. We basicly did this one 100% live. What software do you suggest we record the audio seperate on then Maxi??

Simply press start and type "SoundRecorder", then execute the displayed program. Comes with every Windows version. ;)

If the simple windows sound recorder is good enough we will use it. I was just hopeing you knew a more dedicated and advanced free software  :D

Indeed, I have a more advanced recording software, will look for its name when I'm back behind my screen. ;)

I recorded our video separate from our audio in our cast. That's also how I inserted the little bit about the doctrine choices, bringing up the doctrine box. Did youtube accept your hour long video fine?

Newest shoutcast posted, this time with Glimz too.

The sounds were still way too loud, overlapping our voices sometimes, even after I turned them down to 85% and turned off all faction theme music completely.  I'll adjust them even further down to 60% next time.  The shoutcasts will also include a download link to the replay file of the shoutcasted game for the people would rather watch with default Relic skins / models & sounds.

We're really looking forward to some community replays here guys.  Play some fucking EF and give us something to work with here!

LOL. If you guys really need it, i could play some games in EF. Well, mostly i am in beta/sandbox but i can do exception for you.

Probably a little too much changing of angles. There were times when it suited and other times I would've like to have seen how the overall battle looked from above. Sounds were pretty messed up in parts. Remember that zooming in makes the noises much louder too.

i think there were to many view changes and i missed a bit the view of the pe player
the camera was mostly focused on yau and his troops

and the ingame sounds were a bit too loud.

honestly i have no realy a problem with sound packs but for a shoutcast i think it would be realy better without any kind of skinpacks

The skins won't be changed, but we were gentlemen enough to upload the replay so you can watch it with your own or relics standard skins.

All you have to do is just PM one of us attach the replay or provide a download link for it. Write a little text about why this replay should be shoutcasted and if you want a commentary or a review of it.

Do all shoutcasted games have to be VPC type games or can we have the occasional Annihilation game shoutcasted? I'm just wondering because DjeyDjey, Sommarkatze, a friend of Sommar's, and I have played a very fun Annihilation game just yesterday and would like to possibly have it shoutcasted.

Yes we will only shoutcast VP games.

Yea the one with Fish was actually really good for shoutcasting.  Even if you guys weren't the best players in the world, games like that are still good for us to work with.

As for the angle view, I'll retain default angle 99% of the time then.

I've already went through this on my bump post and the also the top post information.  We'll try to get the sounds right next time by lowering it even more to 60%.  If you don't want to watch my skins / models, there will be a download link to the replay file underneath the youtube link.  All our shoutcasts will be time synced, and we will always start from the 0 second mark.

hmmm....was it really that epic?  I guess we can make an exception if it was, provided its not on a noob map or high starting resources.  Post it here and we'll look it over to see if its worthy.

Here's a game with me and evilSpike :P. Not the best game but here you go :D. Map was Vienna :P. He was SU and I was Wher. The build space was too small for me to build a Panzer Command XD
