I'd love to see clone troopers fighting for real. But chances are we'd be dead b4 that  :P

clonings is already happening with animals but the clone dies in about 30 days.

I didnt actually think the goliath counted as a tank I thought it was more of a IED on wheels  ;D

Goliath was a tank of the time and to this day is considered one. It had a motor and armor, but it was an Engineers Vehicle.

Correct me if Iam wrong but what consider tank? What I heard its when it has armour and a moving turret. ( A jagdpanther for example is a tankdestroyer and a stug a assault canon?)

The goliath is a good question! But IMO it doesnt count because it has no crew ;) But hmm. Kugelpanzer? Thats just a prototype so somebody is going to be mad so an full produced one.

Well technically a tank doesn't need to have turret, for example the Swedish Stridsvagn 103 is a tank designed to fit the Swedish environment, it doesn't need a turret because in heavily forested areas those things can get quite unwieldy.

Goliath does have a crew, a single Pioneer armed with a remote control. In a similar way the Soviet T-26 teletanks were still considered tanks although they were remote controlled by Engineers

Is that so? The Stridsvagn 103 Iam pretty sure is a ¨stormkanon¨ btw. Swedish for assault canon. But I havent a doctors degree in the subject so you could be right ; D
And the goliath ofc it has a crew. I meant like a crew sitting inside the tank crew ;)

Panzer IV F2, the real reason Germany lasted as long she did.

T-34, the greatest tank ever and she gave even greats like Otto Carius and Johanes Bolter panic attacks the first time they fought one of them. Still used by North Korean reservists and the PLA for training 70 years later. :)

If only its turret was a bit more spacious.

That was fixed in the 42 and later models, but yes all russian tanks are not made for comfort. They are made to be reliable and to kill.

You shouldn´t forget that the tanks had to get ready asap. You can´t develop a vehicle in a few month and expect it to work without problems. For that the german ingenery did a great job because it worked somehow.

They had 2 years for the project, but yeah you are right. Still any vehicle that weighs that much with tracks that thin and that power to weight ratio is a sitting duck in combat, even the tiger aces that got a hold of it thought it was a waste of precious metals.

2 years are nothing. Look how long the leopard had to be developed to be a stable design..

That is because the Leopard was designed to be the end all be all for the Heer, the Jagdtiger was a single-role vehicle.

The Centurion is pretty neat too. Didnt see any action in the war ( thank god from a german perspective?) but imo its a masterpiece being in active service for like 60 years. And thats a tank not a rifle XD ( ofc with upgrades and some modifying)

The T-34 was probably the crapiest tank ever made, as shown in the picture below the welds were just awful some tankers even reported being able to stick their fingers out of the tank from inside through the welded areas. One report from Michael Wittmann's crew said that they had been rammed by a T-34 instanly blowing the engine and transmission on the soviet tank and not even leaving more than a scratch on his Tiger. idk how anyone could say they love this pos.

People like it because, despite the problems with quality and crew of four, it still had a good mix of armour, speed, reliability and weaponry. The mass production came at the expense of quality but that nonetheless won the war. Everyone knows German tanks were gorgeous beasts but it doesn't matter when you're surrounded by 10 reasonably good T-34s and your engine won't start.

Quantity over quality I guess :P

Hi Doc. great picture . this x  "weld" isn't. They missed the join entirely. Going anti-clockwise the next weld (with dark spot is bad. the top weld with the Tack at the corner is good technique and a good weld . The last weld (running down to the non-weld) is not great (you can see where they didn't get full penetration) but it would keep fumes and vapors out. Its difficult to make welds on the 40 degree angles of the T34 but the angle of the armor caused many shots to just ricochet away. Shoddy craftsmanship couldn,t take that away from tank. From what I see here  I would guess a lot of tankers were asphyxiated by fumes in cold weather. When I look at the picture again this tank is probably reconstructed from one or more wrecked tanks in a museum somewhere. Kublinka maybe?

Could be, I typed in Soviet T-34 welds, or something like that and this is one of the pictures that came up. I can say at least the T-34 was welded and not riveted, like Italian tanks  ::)

Whats the advantages of riveting as opposed to welding ????

Rivets will shear off when hit causing them to become additional projectiles inside the tank.

38Ts were riveted then mae west was welded over top to good effect.

I'd say Königstiger, but just because I'm German and I love heavy tanks. :P

For me the german Panther was the best tank in WW2. As it had a sloped frontal armour, wasn't "eating" much fuel like the Tiger/King Tiger and still had a 75mm cannon which was able to take on even late Soviet tanks and ofc the late war version with the Nightvision is one of my favorites :P.

The E-100 Super Heavy Tank!! ;D  It had 240mm of armor with a 17.2cm/6.77in
Weighed 137.8 Tons but was only a prototype, P.S. It was German, Built on 1945

I'm quiet sure it was only a blueprint and was never build.

Well. The chassis and the tracks were finished. Turret and superstructure wasnt finished in May 45.
British army captured the E-100 parts and test the chassis with an King Tiger engine.
