Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Mapping

#80654

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Erm... Why? It appears to be near-done from the screenshots, so why not just finish it up, instead of wasting time starting from scratch? ???
#80660

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Because no matter how much you want something to exists, if it doesn't exist, it doesn't.

In other words, anything that MrScruff made and didn't finish will remain as it because, we don't have such stuff. We don't have neither the Jagdtiger nor the Elefant source files, neither those unfinished maps and other models.

Devs aren't obliged to submit their stuff if it's not finished.

I know. I just thought the devs would have had a copy. Blackbishop has already cleared that up.

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

the berlin map only really needs a few tweaks and it's done.
things like slightly larger deployment zones

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

the current berlin map is sorry to say this but its crap^^

i realy hope one good mapper will do a remake of battle of berlin map which will replace the current berlin map. and i think as 3vs3 it would be better. its so hard to find 8 players

#80701

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Well then, add some A.I. players to fill out the gaps. Or just play with less people. ::)
#80702

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Or the mapper can do 8 player and 6 player versions ;D.

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

have you ever played the map?

i dont like the design of the map
the bases are too small
some houses are bugged so inf cant move out (reichtskanzlei)

and it dosent realy looks like berlin^^
its just many ruins and a brandenburger gate

to show you the difference
Forum post image
good design
Forum post image
old design

you see the difference?  ;)

btw what i also dont like on the old current version is the rain of ash

#80737

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

difference?

brandenburg gate is far too big and near to reichstag. Streets and nearby houses are inaccurate.

Good thing is you can have all the important structures in correct placement in one map because they are next to each other (Reichstag, Brandenburger gate and Reichskanzlei + Hitlerbunker)
#80738

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Has there been any relic maps that have real buildings, and on real streets, etc.?
#80741

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

yes i realy think that we need a rebuild of the battle of berlin map
3vs3 or 4vs4 would be awesome

and there are also enought screens which would help to rebuild it (maxi you know what i want  ;D)

You want to "rebuild" the berlin map of araxis?
Well i send him a email some time ago, whether he could finish the map by himself or let me finish the map.

He said he wanted to finish the map by himself...

Look for yourself. complete south site left empty as is the north. But layout looks awesome!

Any news on your PC, pariah?

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Don't know where to look... ::)

My goal is $3000 at the end of the year for my upgrade. I currently have $2300.
#80748

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

2300$????  :o

yeah now i get it you buy a comp with the 1000 and a t34 with the 2000 bucks. Then you invite all donators to your home to drive the tank and your neighbour crazy  ;D
#80749

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

My first P.C. cost me about $1800. I obviously want to get a gaming-grade rig this time, which comes at a gaming-grade cost. ;)
#80757

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Back on topic...

My idea for a berlin map was always a 4v4 but much more radical. It would consist of one team's spawns in the direct center of the map (Axis) and each of the allies in a corner. This promotes an Annihilate sort of gameplay but promotes lots of different options into gameplay, sort of like a "Last Defense" thing.

Of course it'd be a pain in the ass to balance, if you can even call it balance :)

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

I would like a map where the points are related to a place or object. Like one VP is in the Reichstag, the other one at the Brandenburg gate (Winning the game for holding strategic important places like these buildings)

Fuel points have fuel barrels nearby (high fuel has many barrels, low fuel has less barrels). Munition points nearby trenches (where ammunition is common) and so on ...

Always looks strange when a high fuel point is in the middle of nowhere
#80770

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

There are quite a few maps with ammo crates and fuel barrels around the relevant points.
#80844

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

yes but not evry point on the map. Montargis region has fuel barrels in the middle to supply a whole army but only 2 x low fuel

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

!!!! My comp was only 500$ and it is great. It can play CoH, Hearts of Iron, And the game "Spore" all at the same time without it lagging. How the heck do you pay 1000's of dollars for a computer!
The Russians think there sooo tough, wait till the Ostheer comes...

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

My Computer has cost me about £900, but that's including gradually upgrading over the years; new monitor, new gfx card, all that shite. I can play pretty much anything on highest settings with minimal lag... except Eastern Front since CoH wasn't built for heavy modding; vCoH runs fine. I remember back in my Sim City 4 modding days, if you had +500mb of mods, you had to prepare for the game CTDing ALOT since the game wasn't built for heavy modding either, (despite Maxis releasing a bunch of mod tools for it).

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Well i guess you guys just have better and/or cheaper computers over in America and Scotland. :( I have read in PCPowerPlay about processors being grossly marked up by the Australian suppliers... >:(
#80924

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

not only procis. Notebooks are more expensive too. But you dont need a super pc to play coh  ;)
#80927

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Yes i do. No matter my specs, i always struggle to run this game. Hell, Crysis runs far smoother than Company Of Heroes!

Supposing that you are going to play CoH and nothing else ;D.

Remember to avoid ultra settings :). I'm in process of updating my rig as well, btw.

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Ultra settings in which game? With all the setting at max (besides A-A, which is off), Crysis runs far better than Company Of Heroes. Well at least it did, before my computer decided to stop running just about any game...
#80932

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

CoH should not be run on Ultra settings... let alone CoH mods :P.

Don't know if CoH would be fine always in Ultra settings though.

offtopic  :P

any updates maxi?
#80945

Re: Mr. Scruffs berlin map

Yeah, that's 1 of the downsides of modding - You don't have the same resources available to you as the original developers.

I'm sure when i've gotten a proper gaming computer, i can at least get Company Of Heroes to start (and in full-screen, w00t!) without locking up the P.C.... I hope... :-\

Sorry for the off-topic guys. But you started it, Killar. ;)
