Penal military unit (999 or 500 battalions)
26 aygyst of year 1939, German Wermaht issuance of a new military criminal code.
This document official accept penalty for the military crimes & spec hard desertership.
In february, 1940, Obercommando make a decition, all frontline units will have a special units, ... it was a whip for all military criminals.

In august of 1941, was forming special penal battalion. First battalion was introdused to the combat action in october 1941.
In special cases, conditional discharge was transfered to the 500 battalion. (1942)
In penal battalions usualli no one trace a discipline. That's why, in PB can be often commits a theft & desertion.
Successfull expirience of the 500 Bat. takes a thought ... makes it everywhere. (540, 550, 560, 561 ...)
That units active takes a part in combat actions from the 1941 in the west front.
Leningrad, Sinyavins hills, ...
Those parts are takes a place in "Mein Kampf" ...
Penal battalions can be good suggestion ...
