who the best special force/elites?

yes as my topic say it

I am asking you comrade who from this list based on elite/spec op unit featured in Coh
who you think the best not based on game but in real war. why you think this
I encourage you i think there no right or wrong answer. I like your opinions plz so dont be shy to share

1.Soviet shock/assault Guard
2.US Army Ranger
3.The Fallschirmjager
4.British Commando/SAS
5.Knights cross(we will say they are the nazi SS)
6.Your favorite not on here? Share them and so community may learn

my vote go to the shock guard because no nation can match Soviet might and fanatacism. assault guard are hard as nails occompanied by commisar to fight to the last man morale unbreakable for glorious motherland! full political indoctrinization was assured much like the zealous SS truppe
additonally soviet were plenty more than enemy and could not stop red tide

I also like to add honorable mention to the SS, as much as i dislike the fascist they were elites in morale and fighting ability.
and I think the US Rangers was the best equipped logistically
why you think comrade?
is you favorite underrated? under equipped speak now or forever hold a piece

Re: who the best special force/elites?

The one with most health, best armor, most useful abilities, shortest cool-down timers, best against tanks and infantry, and also the fastest and skull-crushing global vet. So just look up all these parameters in corsix and find out what the answer is.

Re: who the best special force/elites?

Oh!
Then I say, it's soviet guards, since they become  guards as a reward for outstanding military accomplishments. I'm not talking about individuals, but the whole regiments - that scale, since individuals are a great variety.
Actually, it's the marines - both individually and at regimental scale (black sea, baltic sea, north sea, pacific ocean fleets), but they aren't in your list. They are the best of the best 'till nowadays in the entire russian military, and they've been considered that since forever.

if you ask about real WWII, so then remove Knight's Cross Holders - they never existed. Nazi SS? You mean Waffen SS?

And my vote goes for USA Rangers! As an infiltration unit they could spent months behind enemy lines, like they did in France.

Re: who the best special force/elites?

In no particular order.

Brandenburgers (German Special Forces).
British Commando's SAS/ SBS (Para's and Royal Marines included).
1st Special Service Force (Devil's Brigade).
Chindits (British India/Gurkha). Gurkha's to this day are still regarded as some of the finest infantrymen in the world.

I know about the Shock/Guard status of the Soviet Union, just unfamiliar with any individual units. I do know that Soviet Paratroopers were quite elite.

Did the Soviet Union during WW2 have any Spetnaz type units?

Re: who the best special force/elites?

Not to flame, really, but...
I do know the specifics of SAS training (at least those that are made public), and I would still call soviat marines the best special recon force of the WW2, - they recieved extensive training to superbly use/handle all kinds of firearms, and even artillery, including the enemy ones, as well as very good close-combat training.
Well, after all, it is a matter of preference. Yet one should consider to actually get to know what he is judging about, which I, for my part, had done.

Yep, in the mid-late 30s Soviets had the lead in many branches of the army. Airborne troops, tanks, artillery... but arent marines an assault force? I mean you dont need to handle enemy guns if youre just a recon force.

Re: who the best special force/elites?

Special Military Teams.

I think, Soviet Marines, or Soviet Paratroopers ... they are making hard successful operationsduring all the war.
Secastopol, Odessa ...
1941-1942 ... descent operations ...
Many of them makes a future Guard & special divisions.

For the special force ...

In 1940, NKVD capture a report from the agents of the ABVER.
(I can not post the source, because the lust time i read & seek 4-6 books ... i can not remember.)
That telegramm says that the Soviet Recon service is very hard for Crack & making anti soviet divertions.

But, know about diversions & counteract for this is different & hard actions.
Future battles of those two special divisions makes an important acts for the first years of the war, battle for Moscow, Stalingrad, Kaukasus, Bagration, anti-Abver-Diversion teams on the Ukrain Republik. Pre war western & Asian recon & diversion operations "makes falls".
Without those successful actions, Victory makes not possible.

Unless it goes into a trench or the troops are blobbed together I find it a waste of ammo because it's 25 more ammo for a SLIGHTLY better grenade that does TREMENDOUS damage to infantry in trenches and SLIGHTLY better damage to infantry in cover.

I'd rather use Assault, around 15-20 grenades flung at the enemy and it stuns them, making them unable to fight and more vurnerable to the grenade shower.

Gee, they work on ships. They handle large caliber guns. I'll bet they hang around in bars too. I'd call em Sailors. Never met a ABS who thought they were anything but elite.  :)

Re: who the best special force/elites?

lol nice.

It's all a matter of preference, but it seems their needs to be a separation between an "Elite Fighting Force" and "Special Forces" rather then grouping them together.

An elite fighting force would be units that were at divisional or brigade strength and fought on the frontlines in the hardest situations. A special forces unit works in small teams behind enemy lines on high risk missions with a high possibility of being detected/captured. Most special forces units in WW2 learned the languages of their enemies, and had ample knowledge of their radio and weapon systems

Alot of the special forces units today trace their lineage back to WW2, and over time have evolved. It's hard to say now, because we weren't there at the time, which specific unit had the hardest training, or which unit would win if they were put up against each other.

The SAS for example are the models for most Western countries special forces programs (SFOD, SASR, NZSAS, JTF-2, French 1er RPIMa) and alot of their techniques were discovered and mastered during WW2, but each individual country took the initial guide and made it into their own. But who are we to judge and say which unit would come out on top when their skill set's they have complement each other.

Each unit then and now has their uniqueness, but when it comes down to it their still human beings and still bleed red. They aren't tied down by what nationality they belong to and were all equally deadly.

Silly Fish, French don't know how to fight anything other than Americanization (just read that they banned Ketchup in schools with anything other than French Fries which they will make sure to serve only once a week, just to make sure that the American condiment doesn't become too popular) and they even suck at that, so have can they even have a special operations team that knows how to do something other than wave the White Flag of France?

Anyway, hmm Special Forces? Polish GROM operatives are pretty damn cool, as are the SAS. But my crown goes to the Israeli Special Forces particularly the Sayeret Matkal regiment. These guys are godly.

KSK (german spec ops)
all special forces are pretty badass i guess
they employ similar tactics, in fact many spec forces are trained by SAS and most western spec forces cross train
Speznaz btw has exercices that are not in line with human rights (i am not making this up) a speznaz in traning has no rights at all, it is a fight for survival, pretty hardcore so i guess the people who actually get in the Speznaz are the baddest Mofos around

Re: who the best special force/elites?

Yea my grandpa was part of the first Spetnaz regiments ever organized (1960s IIRC) He tells me the training was horridly brutal. He still has scars from the combat training and even though he isn't in shape he can beat the crap out of almost anyone. I recall he mentioned crawling through a blacked out room filled with barbed wire and blood. You got no equipment and only your shirt and pants for protection. So it gets quite gruesome, because they really don't feel pain. I don't consider them as the best because they don't understand how to attack any objective with out creating a giant mess and killing half of the civilians in an area. The Moscow theater being the best example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_theater_hostage_crisis
#93253

Re: who the best special force/elites?

Well they're tough but not necessailly effective ;). Nice example though neosdark :D.

Im not really sure about US combat missions. I don't mean to be mean or hurtful to any US military combatants but we just don't seem as good or well known. Sure, we killed Osama Bim laden but that shouldn't even count ::). He was unarmed. Derp :P. I only bring that up b/c that was they're most recent action in the news :P

And some movies portray us as doing super but movies are suppose to glorify our performance in the name of the country ::). And then some movies and TV shows always show us getting ambushed and taken hostage :'(

Our KDR(to put it very simply) of enemy comabtants to US soldier IMHO is mainly due to our superior air power. Terriorist dont have F-14 fighters, they have.....car bombs ???. And we have superior gear over them. But most special forces have this gearso we aren't nesscarily special in terms of equipment (although we do have a new stealth helicopter ;))
