Music of the Ostheer

Hi guys, I don't know there is a music theme for the mod, but I can advise some good stuff. I've uploaded to youtube a song. See how's work.

Re: Music of the Ostheer

That sounds a bit too electronic.

I would recommend Ride of the Valkyries (a classic), and something out of a movie starring the Germans. I don´t know much about movies with Germans on them, and I don´t think the A Bridge Too Far theme would fit them, so... I´ll leave that to anyone more familiarized with German war movies.

Oh well, I don't deny it Lord Rommel, I'm an addict. :) Before COH that was my favourite game. Good pointing it out, I'll think of something else.  ::)

Re: Music of the Ostheer

While historically accurate the march music doesn't fits the CoH atmosphere very well, it's too "cheery", needs something more orchestral to match the other factions themes. For the Ostheeer I was thinking something more along the lines of the Panzer Elite's music which could fit perfectly

or something like these

Wolfenstein OST - Airfield Boss

RO -04- Baedeker Blitz

Menu Music?

Der Untergang (La Caída) Soundtrack - Der Krieg Ist Aus 14

What about the Hohenfriedberger or even Raedetzky? The latter is Austrian but it was part of Nazi Germany at that time.

Hmm, it appears I don't know how to place a Youtube embedment.

HappyCat: I understand, but the Ostheer is yet another branch of the German military forces in CoH, it deserves a little bit of differance. I say go with the marches, they're quite inspiring.

I thought the topic was OSTHEER music? Not Commie...

@Topic: While I also sometimes like marches  ;D  I don't think they would fit into CoH. Happycat already pointed that out.

No that's not good. "Ich hatt einen Kameraden" gets played all the time if they burie(don't know how to write) a soldier.
But Erika is a very nice idea.

Lied der Panzergrenadiere(Song of the Mechanised Infantry)

But i guess Erika would be the best.

I know. But I think it would be nice to have evocative songs that remind people of those movies. The Russians get not one but TWO music compositions from famous movies about Russians.

Basically, I think it´s nice to have people go "hey, I KNOW that song, awesome!" when they start the mod.

But yeah, it´s not an iron-clad argument.

Best Nazi music ever.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - SS elite guard assault -music
Return to castle Wolfenstein - Base Alarm (music)

I miss that game so much :( Will never forget the epic soundtrack. The new game is meh, but the soundtrack's OK, still not as good as this though. Same artist.

I also like to listen to Red Faction Guerilla OST while playing EF. This song's awesome, sounds very electronic initially but gets intense at around 3:00.

Hell March is fictional, at least the marching music posted were stuff the German soldiers probalbly heard on a radio at camp everyday.

Oh, and the Hymn for the Red October and Tanya are not fictional?

What the mod needs is music that sounds good and is in theme, not a RECREATION of the 40s in European militaries. Get over the marches and patriotic music already and think about something evocative and cool instead.

I think Hell March is way too modern, and electronic, rather something like the O du schöner Westerwald as EasyWinHunt3r proposed. The music for the soviets works well as it adds to the atmsphere, it seems heroic etc. Which i think the Ostheer need as well...

the game is fictional! since when did snipers walk past infantry in open fields invisible, or a vehicle repair itself.......?

what would you rather listen to, a boring out of tune 1940 song or something a bit more lively? it is a game after all.

Re: Music of the Ostheer

Many songs from 40 are excellent, and far superior from the modern SHIT(mostly).

This is a game who represent history,an we can have fun in it,but is a stupidity to put techno, rap, metal or other craps. This songs can be better for other type of games, but i...personally...want to find in games and mods with historical theme, allot of material from history...not modern bulsh***...because life offer us this at any step.

I want to listen songs about Zhukov,Stalin,Rommel,Churcill,Hitler...about tanks...artillery...special units...soldiers from the trenches....suffering....hope...patriotic....farewell....NOT STUPIDITIES!!!

No it´s not. It LOOSELY (very loosely) represents history. It is NOT a simulation, and the music in the original game is NOT based on historically-relevant music. Besides, I would rather keep the goofy atmosphere of the game rather than be all "serious business".

If you want an accurate representation of WW2 watch Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan (The story itself is not true but the context and battle scenes are very historically accurate)

Every game give a special feeling. Also this mod desrve that.If is used just crappy product found in the cheap modern marked, will be a sad thing.

I suggest to all who argue against me,to install Total War,and mod Broken Crescent, and to compare vanilla with that mode.I tell you what will happen>player will be stunned by the superbe choice for music, and sometimes will hesitate to eneter in battle, just for listening one melody.

I don't know why...but i have a feeling...i talk with some kind of 12 years old guys?

I also suggest to all people who prefer to listen modern day music,to disable sond from the game, and listen what they want.

Previous posters...maybe this will fit for your taste

Re: Music of the Ostheer

I hear this music in my head every time I see german tanks in CoH

Panzerlied:

http://www.worldwar2aces.com/panzerlied_obssturm.mp3

I think it really is the quintessential Germanic pride themesong for WWII.

Here's a different version.

Original Panzerlied

There are orchestral versions as well, for those who seek to keep the CoH style themes...

I actually prefer the real Martial Music. :o
Bring on the Hohenfriedberger or Raedetzky! I don't care!
The vehicle repairs are made by the crew inside the vehicle, I can't explain the sniper thing. No "movie music" really describes 1940's Germans because they are always depicted as the bad guys. Go back to Red Alert if you wan to hear hell march to baddly. It doesn't fit with the period the game is depicted in. Sticking with the game's original music theme however, will remove one piece of diversity that the Ostheer could use.

It is based on something real and thus needs music to reflect that, if you just choose any random music for it then it would remove any sense of atmosphere. Choosing Hell March would be like adding a Basshunter or whatever song to say a movie like Saving Private Ryan, it just does not work. Rather, as HyperSniper999 said real martial music.

Re: Music of the Ostheer

It make no sense that.

Soldiers go in battle with music who RISE the morale, not one who make make them to think they live a drama.

I play to WIN and i want to listen music who give me THAT feeling,no matter how many soldiers i lose....I...MUST...WIN !!!

Drama music listen wives of the dead soldiers who sit home, but commanders who lead armies to victory use songs who make soldiers to go through the fire, who make them ferocious, who make them to consider to be a holly duty their fight, not one who make them to piss their eyes or pants.

Machine guns will kill your soldiers in waves, and mortars and howitzers will rip your soldiers in hundreds of pieces...but you order them FORWARD!!! FORWARD MY BRAVE SOLDIERS!!! LEAVE NO ENEMY ALIVE!!!  FOR OUR NATION!!! FOR ALL THAT WE LOVE,DON'T FEAR ANYTHING!!! BRING DEATH TO ALL ENEMIES!!! PUSH FOOOORWAAAARD!!!! TOOO VICTOOOORY!!!

Blood will flow in rivers under the sky who will become black by smoke.Sea of fire will be.Air will become  hard to breath, from dust, sweet and smell of fried soldiers.Thousands of thunders from all guns grenades and all hell machines will make your soldiers crazy or def.You will see you beloved soldiers mutilated and butchered in the most horrible ways, but in that moment, you will don't care about that and will order forward. The field will be covered with brains,intestines,eyes,legs,hands...and you will become mad by furry and pain from the heart, but victory must come. With even more furry you will order to the second wave FORWAAAARD!!!!

Victory not come with tears.
Is need allot of blood.

Empires are made with blood, not tears.

Stalingrad.

But it doesn't show the Germans as undefeatable hereos nore contains any Nazi-Propaganda, unlike Hollywood-movies like EatG or SPR.
It's more like a movie against war which depicts the cruelty and senseless slaughter at the eastern front and doesn't clorify it (like these 2 mentioned above).

Re: Music of the Ostheer

Stalingrad is a great movie, nicely done and portraying well the reality of war. Quite  the opposite ending, (reality!) from the happy hollywood war movie endings.

Dont forget Cross of Iron. Sure its a bit hollywood-ish,and the germans speak in english,  but its also a good film about the german point of view on the eastern front and all its UN-glory of war. It also has a good german-themed music intro.  Sgt.Steiner FTW!

Another good, obscure, german soldier oriented-film is The bunker (2001) - (not the one with anthony hopkins playing hitler, this is a newer made one). Its about agroup of german soldiers based on the western front who retreat(after the allied breakthrough at falaise) into an old, neglected bunker, but everything isnt as safe it seems on the inside.

A bit off subject, but theres another good axis-themed, italian made film about the italian point of view in the african campaign, called
El Alamein: The Line of Fire (2002)

IT HAS TO BE WOLFENSTIEN! This music fits with what I wiould imagine what the Ostheer will look like and fight like! As for Hellmarch or anything else from C%C Red Alert series, it's too electronic in my opnion.

Re: Music of the Ostheer

Too be honest I think alot of these songs would suit the Werhmacht more, I think the Ostheer would probably have sad, depressing, and slow kind of music as historically for them fighting the Russians was four years of hell.

I think the Panzer-Elite kind of music would suit them the best.
