Like the title says, i tried to download the one that already exists but it does not show up in EF. So anyone here with mapping skills, please add 4 more Command HQ's to Lyon and you will make my dream come through!
Although I haven't seen Lyon (8) before, I myself have made a 3vs3 version of it, and believe me when I say that it's cramped at the best of times (and extremely unfair for PE players, whose buildings aren't on the small side). However, expanding the map beyond its normal limits to accommodate 8 players would be a project I'd love to take on.
Although it's probably too early to announce any concrete plans, Maxi and myself are looking at "Frankenstein" maps, merging two existing maps together to make something far larger and grander. If you can think of any map that would merge well with Lyon, I will add it to the list personally!
If you're looking to extend the map lengthways, so that you're still fighting across the river, try to think of any maps that have a river running through them!
Adding a 2 player map to a 4 player map is much better than added a 4 player to a 4 player. After all, we want these to be working maps, rather than laggy messes with too much detail in them!
So when you merge maps together, are you using the stamp tool to copy (for some reason my stamp tool in WB doesn't work) or do you copy the maps step by step?
I'm stamping the maps together (which by the way, I have just done. Operation Lynderdam is underway!), but it can cause some massive issues, as all maps are based at different heights, so you have to prepare the ground where you are about to stamp by adding or removing height based on the existing map stamp. Basically, a pain in the arse. But when it works, it looks great!
And you'll find that everyone's stamp tool is broken, unfortunately. I think it was on Relic's to-do list, but never got fixed. Fortunately there was a pipeline.ini made that you can add to the COH directory that fixes it, but I can't remember for the life of me who made it. Credit where credit is due, but my memory is atrocious!
