stupid question

so.. i was playing as wehrmacht vs americans. i built a squad of volksgrenadiers. they start with (i beleive) 4 kar 98's and 1 mp44. and i think when u upgrade them with mp40's, they all get them. so i had a squad of them.. and i killed a bunch of paratroopers and my volks picked up a couple of recoiless rifles. then i noticed i still had ability to upgrade to mp40s. so i did. afterward i noticed 2 members had recoiless rifles, 1 had an mp40.. but 1 still had kar98 and 1 still had mp44. is this just what happens in this situation? i was hoping the 3 non-recoiless rifle having squad members would all get mp40s. i know, stupid pointless question.. but i'd like to get an answer. should i have upgraded 1st, then grabbed the 2 recoiless rifles? is that not possible after upgrade. lemme know. again, sorry if stupid question. thanx.

You can't pick up more weapons after upgrading with MP40s because they take up all the weapon slots.

A volks squad has 5 weapon slots. RRs take up 2 each I guess. Therefore, you only have one left for an MP40. If you drop an RR, maybe you will get MP40s when you reinforce squad members (up to 3, then 5 if both RRs are lost). Btw the MP44 is a K98 in every way except appearance.

Also, this isn't a stupid question and is actually pretty interesting.

cool. thank you very much for responding. so RRs take up 2 slots each. so if my volks only picked up 1 RR, then i upgraded.. i might get 3 mp40s? (the other 2 slots taken up from the 1 RR).  i should try this out before asking anymore questions on here, i know. and thanx for the mp44 acting as a kar98 info as well.

Yeah MP40 takes up 1 slot and Volks ave only 5 slots. The same thing that happened with your RRs applys with every weapon. The more you pick up, the less MP40s you'll have.

BTW I read on wikipedia the MP44 does slightly better than a Kar98

Nah it's a squad leader K98 (MP44) which is better than a volk K98 and weaker than a gren K98.
