[Finished] Prague (2)

Mapping

[Finished] Prague (2)

Ladies and gents, by request I present Prague (2)!

Forum post image

What you can see here is only the basic heightmapping, texture and spline work. There are few objects, no fx and no territory at the moment, so bare with me. As usual, critique is welcome so let me know what you think! Given a few days this map should be done, so watch this space!

I'll post more images tomorrow, seeing as it's pretty late now. Until then, enjoy.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

You sir have some great skill. This map looks really good. Seeing as how i only play Skirmish i think it looks great. But from a standpoint of Multiplayer play i cant tell you. I would love to play this map

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

Looks a bit big to be a 2 player map, awesome work though.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

Cheers guys!

The map is 384x384, which is large. It's a large 1vs1 or a small 2vs2, but considering how constrictive the map is (being urban) it doesn't feel as large. Naturally time will tell whether this map stays as a 2 player or is converted into a 4 player.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

Definitely looks large. How large is say, Lorraine in comparison?
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

Lorraine is 320x320, but don't forget that the riverside on this map cuts it down to about 384x320.

Oh, and I should probably mention that I have left space for additional bases, just in case this happened! Once it's done, do you balancers want to have a quick scrap on it just to test whether it's worth keeping as 1vs1 or converting into 2vs2?

Looks very interesting so far.
But could you please post some more pictures?

As you can see, this map not quite finished, but I would say 90% done. Additional defenses are still to come, as well as more splat work, fx, weather and territory. Let me know what you think!

Oh, and before anybody says it, yes, the streets are cluttered. Judging by all the pictures I have of Prague at this time though, it would have been wrong of me to leave them clear. I have left gaps in every street however where light vehicles can travel unobstructed, but this may not be easy to see from these few images.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

Well even if it is to big to be a 1v1 is it possible you could have them both made? Because i think a 1v1 would be fun on that awesome looking map. And i would much rather play on a 1v1 fo your glorious map

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

I'm flattered!

And yeah, it's possible for me to make both versions. Before I start mapping out territory I always save an alternate file just in case I want to add more HQ's and calculate the voronoi again. I'll leave it as a 1vs1 for now, but should a 2vs2 be more preferable (or both are wanted), I'll work on them both and make one appear to be a little later in the war, where more buildings are flattened (probably resembling Caen more than anything).

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

After a few good hours of testing and making necessary changes, Prague (4) is complete. Now I'm just working on the final conversion into a two-player map.

Re: [WIP] Prague (2)

I like how you did damage to houses and used high map editor and splats accordingly. Seems that you are  non stop creating high quality maps. Keep em omin´!  8)

Cheers, Killar.

So long as people have the potential to enjoy them, I'll keep making them!

Re: [Finished] Prague (2)

This map is currently being kept under wraps ready to be balanced, but I'll let you know when it's available!

Also, just in case anybody wants the most recent view of the 4 player version, here is a screenshot:

Although it may not be clear, the 3 victory points are on the bridge, and in the far north-eastern and north-western corners. This is a layout that plays very well through testing, although I am open to suggestions as to where else they could make challenging competition. I am not a balancer after all!
