Soviet Build order or strategy that includes Red Banner Strelky?

I've been struggling as Soviets lately. I don't know how to effectively use their infantry. Everytime I play, I don't know what to use. Previously I would just use Conscripts before Strelky, but I've been back to playing and I just can't do that anymore.

Random question, who wins? DP-28 RBS or PPS-43 SG at range?

I typically get Strely after I unlock them. I get like 2 then RBS and then a 3rd or 4th one. However thats completely up to you and its situational. Get them if you are going infantry heavy and need to counter vet 2 grens but cnt go fast vehicles. RBS can scale against vet 2 grens and with vet 3 grens, uogrades and vet should do fine.

And Guards will almost always trump Strelky IMO. Thats just how they're supossed to be.

what do you typically do before Strelky?

CS, 2 con - SSB - Strelky should be the best build order for getting fast Strelky. Get 2 squads out and then get RBS. Sometimes it's a good idea to get a support weapon as well though to counter fortified positions. Number of ingenery (1 or 2) is up to you.

I have difficulties in satisfactorily including RBS into a good strategy as well. Both Dennis and Fish have suggested building two strelky prior to upgrade to RBS. I find that delaying any upgrade until 3 squads may benefit from it is helpful. This allows additional time to Stockpile sufficient Mt to pay for squad upgrades. I find that delaying the arrival of CS until the PPS43 upgrade is available is helpful as well.

You may try this. Plan on playing Breakthrough. You don't actually have to select breakthrough but It will help avoid the temptation to go for NI or FTM and full conscript rifles. IE base your  strategy on reliance on Strelky and RBS from the start. To this end try a heavy ing start, T2/T2CS with THS then T1 Strelky, RBS. Use your ings to set up a strategically Placed MG nest and enough defencing to flow the enemy into the MG's maw. 3 Strelky/3 TH  seems to work pretty well. At range go the LMG route.

Me personally:

CS-3x Cons - (optional) Molotov - 2nd Ingineery - SSB - 2x Strelky (optional AT or mortar first if you feel you'll need it soon)- RBS - 1 or 2more Strelky

Shark when you go 4 RBS strelky how many LMGs do you throw into the mix?

Well I personally get 2-3. Cause chances are the CS has PPS which devastates volks with MP40 and its better IMO than Strelky with PPSH. But I guess if you already have a lot of conscripts then you might want to consider a 50/50 split in upgrades cause conscripts can do ok at med range. But again, its situational. And I am no expert like GLD  :-X

I think shark has hit the nail on the head here irik, The problem is there  are so manychoices that it is hard to stick to a single game plan when it comes to Strelky and RBS. It takes a lot of discipline to stick to the Strelky path.

well said Otto. Which weapon package is superior, PPSH or DP-28? I've been told by Cranial DP-28s are superior, but I'm not sure

Weapon choice should be mix Imho, PPS and DP combined units. If you have 4 Strelky for instance, it would be good to have 50/50 two diff weapons, so 2 units can be used as Assault, 2 units can fight behind cover, med distance. Various guns are better instead of getting all PPS imho. It's like having Mp44's to all your PG's but I like to have at least 2 G-43 and 2-3 units Mp44. 

No one weapon is "superior". THey have different roles. Think of the PPSH as a MP40 and the DP as a Bren gun

Riggsmans suggestion Makes excellent sense so long as you can effectively engage in Fire and maneuver micro. If you are stuck with blob micro, as some of us are Go with LMGs. (It would be nice if they had more supression but ...). I find that Stormovies work better for me. They have a higher MP cost but their SMGs mam per man are stronger dps wise and their reinforce cost is about 50% cheaper.
