ok here are some ideas for il2 stats and the strike itself:
First weapon stats: the il2 has two rapid fire 37mm cannons which are thesame size as vcoh American at. The rate of fire should be closer to that of the m8 main gun, so about 3 or 4 times more shots in the target area than the hs strike (I will explain balance l8r)
The il2 also has 8 rockets which should be based on calliope barrage rockets except they cause more damage to tanks and are innaccurate, like arty rounds
In addition, the il2 drops grenades behind it, essentially impact butterfly bombs
As for the layout of the strike, it could be either a support option or a normal strike (like several p47s) as a support option, the strike is targetted on a friendly unit. When it sees an enemy in its los, four il2s appear from the player's half and attack that target. If the unit sees further targets, the strike will occur again and then for a final time (3x in all) once all of these have been used, the ability ends with a 2 minute cooldown before it can be used again (on a different unit if wanted). If the unit is destroyed, the strike immediately goes into cooldown. 5 points on tree and 300 muni, but doesn't end until all strikes complete.
Think of it as overwatch which moves slightly ahead of the unit.
The reason for this idea is that the soviets used their planes to fly with their tanks and infantry as support. As for balance with the hs, itcannot be reallocated and happens less often therefore. It's perfect for an allied tank rush, but depends on keeping one unit alive.
