My Pet Peeve

I have a pet peeve with the EF Community, (I include myself): Wants, Needs, Doesn't Need! I suspect that everyone who has posted more than once on this site has used at least one of these terms.

Everyone "wants" something. No Problemo.

I can think of only one thing that EF "needs": Ostheer.

My peeve is the frequency of the use of "doesn't need" on the boards. I think it is a no brainer. The developers consider all the ideas and requests they receive. They have been most generous in undertaking to give us what we ask for. Of course we keep asking for more. Human Nature, I suppose. Lets look at what the Soviet Faction Has. Compare it to other factions you play with.

This list is not meant to be all inclusive:
3 types of engineers
5 types of infantry, (plus 4 more Doctrinal types)
2 types of ATG
5 types of artillery, (plus 5 more Doctrinal types)
2 types of sniper
5 types of stealth units
6 types of tanks, (ignoring doctrinal and rewards AFVs)
4 types of grenade, (5 types of incendiaries- don't forget Flamers)
yada, yada, yada
oh yeah, and an entire rewards faction

Face it EF "doesn't need" much of anything. It won't stop us from asking of course; but consider desisting from the use of "EF doesn't Need ..." And DevTeam, thanks for what you've given us so far.

But you must realize that the "2 types of AT guns" are related and that once you unlock one, you don't get the other. Its almost like get Wehr vet. Once you buy vet 3, you don't have the option of going back and buying vet 0. Im just using the AT gun as an example.

And people are always going to ask for more changes. Partially due to the fact they have not yet realized there is a search function :P

The search function doesn't work very well at all. I've tried using it time and time again with spectacularly dismal results.

Edit: type Stalin Maus or halftrack in the search box

It works wonders if you search "Maus" instead of making a new topic about it and getting ripped apart by the dev/balance team about it because we've heard the same song and dance over a million times.

Same thing with Balance VS Realism. If people searched realistic damage in the first place they'd understand why we lock their topics about it so fast.

Check my edit guys. Isn't it curious that the results are so limited. It certainly wouldn't keep me from posting about you know what.

It's not necessarily the first result but when you do indeed search Maus you get many results that tell you that we're not going to except it.

Stalin is such a generic term I wouldn't even search that normally.

Cranial, use the search function for maus  right now on the page you are on. THe results I get are only from this thread.

Because you're physically searching for the word "Maus" on this thread.

The search function works much like it does on windows. If you search for a document while you're in a folder, it will only check that folder. To search the entire forum on a global scale, you need to be on the main index (IE the main page of the forum)
