[WIP] Prokhorovka (6)

Mapping

#109529

[WIP] Prokhorovka (6)

Good evening, friends :D

Today, I will show you what I have been working on for months now, a new, fancy map for Eastern Front. I started work in late September but decided not to show anything to public until the map is halfway done. I did in that way because Narva was a big fail, so I didn't want to show off details of my new project too early this time.
It's not far from being finished, you'll probably see it coming alongside Ostheer if becomes a decent map.
I begun work on a six player map, because EF lacks maps of this type in my opinion. 4v4s almost never took place, especially when it comes to PVP games, but there are some 3v3 games from time to time. In that time, the most played 3v3 in Eastern Front was Red Ball Express, so I wanted to commit a unique, well balanced map of this type for the official EF map pool. I know, this map won't be able to compete with RBE, but at least, I hope it is played and you guys have fun playing it.

Maps name isn't final, still can be changed. Initially, I named it "Steppes of Stalingrad", but that of course is no official location where an important battle of WW2 took place.

Re: [WIP] Maikop (6)

I disagree wth your statement that Red balls (lol) is the most popular map, at least as of now. Zhythomir (IDK how to spell it) seems to be much more popular now. Nevertheless GL on ur map Maxi :)

BTW what was Narva? Was that a map that was never finished ???. Just curious ;)

Yes that's the only really soviet looking house. It can be found in: buildings>holland>buildings>plaster_3x1_rural_01 also make sure to check out: buildings>holland>buildings>wood_3x1_garage_01 (has the same look)

Re: [WIP] Maikop (6)

Thank you, everyone :D
Reading your comments always makes me smile ;)
Will probably be able to finish it in the next two weeks. One thing I forgot in the introduction - I was inspired by the World of Tanks map "Prokhorovka" as well as by Goobers map "Sicilia". Thanks to both :)

Maybe, but when I started working on this map, Red Ball(s)  ;D was the most popular 3v3 map for sure.

Trannyhunterx wrote:

Well, officially, it's still in the making. But as it is, the map doesn't deserve any more attention by me because it's crap. Its concept was nice, but I fucked it up. So no work on Narva, anymore. Two other maps were born yesterday, though. Let's see.. ;)

And this is exactly what I intended. Rural Soviet buildings were wooden and often had white window frames. The only thing that doesn't fit is that Relic's Dutch houses feature thatched roofs, whereas the Soviet originals had wooden ones. Just a matter of detail, though.

Update #4 - 100% done

Ladies (if there are any at this place I may adress) and gentlemen!
After 9 months of sleepless nights, hard work, pain, sweat, tears and blood, I can finally say - it's done! Maikop is finished and will be given to the balancers in order to be optimized concerning gameplay and balance. But not only balancers will get their hands on this map. Right after they finish their work, you will be granted access to Maikop and are free to experience epic tank battles on this large and epic map.
Enough the senseless words, here some eye candy for you:

Maikop (6)

[color=#999999]Soviet Union, August 1942. Hitlers Wehrmacht reaches for the Caucasian oil fields around Maikop and Grosny. In less than two weeks, the 17th German army made their way to the foothills of the Caucasus. However, the Soviet defenders did their best to refuse land and oil, some stubborn fights began. Mainly because the Germans overexpanded their supply lines, the offensive of Fall Blau grinded to a halt..

No, it has swastikas and Hitler on the map. Additionally, there is a scar-scripted UFO landing 15 minutes into the game.

Just kidding, Walki is right.
