WH Officer does he do anything?

Stupid question but.

The Wehrmacht officer.
He can force retreat, supervision and a fearful mortar barriage. But other than that. Does he do anything?

I often let the officer join in the charges because it looks cool and thinking that he highes the morale for the men ;D To the question.

Does he do that? Troops nearby. Do they fight better with him nearby or is that just Brittish officers?

And a suggestion for EF. Let the Officer have the abilety to pick up weapons! Would love to see a officer with a mg42 XD

Actually his "increase Production" ot whatever called is very useful. Mortar barrage is insane against blobs or AT guns. It does tremendous damage...

I don't know if there's any special 'aura' around him..

It's worth it to use his Force Retreat just for the hilarious lines he spews... ;D

No, sadly no aura, but at the time he comes, those three abilities are CRUCIAL. Let me give examples:

1. Mortar Barrage; It's very similar to the defensive's registered artillery in power but he can call it anywhere for 100 muni. It is an expensive upgrade but when the enemy sees it's power rain upon them it's too late to retreat. Great for removing defenses and AT guns like stated above.

2. Observation; This is an ability that could pretty much be used from anything from building to production. Use it to pump out late-armor like the Panther faster! (Can even effect assualt-> battle phase research speed too)

This is why the officer comes with a reinforce brigade, he can observe the 2 pios repairing the HQ which gives an immense repair speed bonus.

3. Force Retreat; Just like the force retreat of terror, but you can only select one squad for 50muni. Good for sending back pesky rangers coming up with Rifles. It's fairly cheap too so I find it quite useful when you've got a blob headed for you and you can force the most powerful of the blob back, might give your troops an easier time in handling them. Late game blobs typically will have some sort of vet included too.

And I'm not sure about the repair speed bonus I don't think it affects it. I like to use the officer, it's somehow a non-doctrial counterpart against the US Army rifle spam.

Can anybody remember the exact line when he uses Force Retreat? It's quite long, but so fucking funny!

I think he's called 'Leutnant Gottlieb', actually.

Leutnant is his rank but when he is in combat hes says "Deinhart is ready!"

It's pretty obvious that's his rank, but i don't recall him being called 'Deinhart'. :-\ Although 1 of the Panzer Grenadiers is.

but anyway he is the badest pistol shooter i've ever seen xD. Even the pak support gunner is better :P.

Yeah, it is pretty funny watching him fire randomly in the enemies direction. He's not really a front-line combatant. ;)

Officer have only problem with your finger ;D

Officers are pretty good at capping with a 1.5 cap speed. Combined with his reasonable health and force retreat, he's a pretty good side capper since you can make any single squads that challenge you run away. He actually works well with T3 blitz who otherwise don't have a muni spending off-map arty. Nebels + officer arty counter enemy AT guns and then send in the Pumas to mop up.

He can man a flak 38 quad!!! ALONE! :D It's kinda stupid that the barrage can only be used after the last phase has been researched.

Well then, next time I team up with a Luftwaffe player I gonna get extra officers for flak38 replacement XD

I think then he can be killed by one sniper shot after he maned it :/.
