Alsace Moselle

Hi !

I just checked the new maps in the lastest patch for CoH and Alsace Moselle is exactly the same map as one that appears in Eastern Front ( I can't remember the name, a 2vs2)
Is that normal ?

Re: Alsace Moselle

Umm... You mean relic stole an E.F. map and renamed it?

Re: Alsace Moselle

Nah, the author of the map just released it with a different name. Here is the official thread:

I would suppose, a mapper, who made the map, simply got it chosen and included into the officall map pack. That is, if that's that exact map, or not some other, distantly resembling it. 'cause, you know, people are all made of same flesh, and might well get pretty much similar ideas, including map making as an instance.

Tannenberg!

Re: Alsace Moselle

Oh, yeah, that looks very similar to Tannenburg. But relic Company Of Heroes is on the Western front, so why would they want a map set on the Eastern front?

Edit: Yeah, what HyperSniper999 said. Although i'm not sure which spelling is correct... :-\

100 points to you, Sir.
Whiteflash released it as Tannenberg for EF and Alsace Moselle for the Relic mapping contest.

I don't know, - RedGuard drew my attention to Kursk. Lovely map. Really nice one.

Dammit you posted my opinion before me.

Though I like Vienna too.

Re: Alsace Moselle

Don't like Kursk, and Vienna isn't big enough - Not enough room for all base buildings, giving Brits an advantage... Which is probably a good thing, come to think of it...

Re: Alsace Moselle

What was the strange thing in the info about? There a UFO crash somewhere or crop circles?

What does Alsace Moselle mean, anyway?

The map description. It says both the German and Soviets wanted the area to capture something.

I admit it. I read the map descriptions while waiting.

You mean this?

Scouting parties have found a strange-looking landmark. The atmosphere here is certainly peculiar, and whatever this place holds, the General personally ordered its capture for 'research'. And who would ever build so many windmills?

Yes that's the one.

Re: Alsace Moselle

Just to justify the heap of windmills behind the base at starting postions 3 and 4 :P

I once dropped a squad of Airborne there, just to see if i could load them onto a Halftrack from there. I couldn't. Just sayin'.

Re: Alsace Moselle

lol... you know, that map was going to be called "tunguska" at the begining of EF but iirc Dragon and WartyX help to avoid it :P.

Re: Alsace Moselle

What's wrong with that name?
#71131

Re: Alsace Moselle

So from Tunguska to Madam Moiselle or whatever. Wow.

Re: Alsace Moselle

Tunguska is way East of any WW2 fighting, Apex was being uptight about map names, wouldn't let us have Psel or Lehrter Bahnhof despite being places where fighting took place, but thought Tunguska would be a good name for this map. It was changed to Tannenburg in accordance with his own rules that he tried to break.

But yeah, the map was made by Whiteflash from Reborn over at Gamereplays before we scooped it up. Relic probably saw some potential as well. Dunno whether we should get rid of Tannenburg, or Alsace Moselle... no point in keeping both of them.
#71143

Re: Alsace Moselle

Get rid of Alsace Moselle: Tannenburg sounds better ;)

Re: Alsace Moselle

Is there any actual difference between the 2, or just the names? Because they looked a little different in the screenshots...
#71146

Re: Alsace Moselle

Not sure, haven't played on it yet since I assumed it would be the same, but Relic may have balanced it more before adding it.
#71148

Re: Alsace Moselle

This area is quite different:

In Eastern Front, the Victory Point is much further down, and there are more and higher walls around that area if i remember rightly. The way the high wall just stops shortly after the archway is really stupid...
#71151

Re: Alsace Moselle

It's the same map, but he added new things before submitting it to relic, in the same way a mapper improves his maps and let know everyone what he did in order to make them grab his new version and replace the older. The difference being we didn't know that this map was updated.
