How good were PTRD and PTRS anti tank rifles against Japanese tanks in Manchuria

How well did these do? Or how well could they possibly do? Cause these probably were used in Manchuria. Soviets did fight Japanese forces in WW2.
Guards of the Red Army. Today, the German Reich is done away with!

the japanese tanks werent known for anything really except being probably the worst armored force of the war.

So im sure the PTRD worked wonders. if not there was always the bigger guns to do the job

Most of japanese tanks would be compared to light tanks in the European theatre if we are talking about armour. So probaly the poor imperial japanese army tanks got pierced pretty good by those awesome long rifles ;P

I got this picture in my mind of a whole russian squad only equipped with PTRS rifles running around COD style destroying a whole japanese tank division singelhanded lol XD

Or maybe an entire line of them prone on a hill blasting away the Japanese tanks.

Have you happen to know, what these guys did in China, and in Manchuria in particular? They should really pray thanks all their Shintoist gods, or Buddha,  or even all of them put together, that they weren't just given to chinese.

Yeah I do know how horrible they were. I was just saying that the soviets and japanese fought for real hard at Khali Golan (I don't know if I spelled it right) but manchuria 1945 the japanese were more untreated in surrendering than fighting. There are cases of 1000s of japanese surrendering to russian nurses ( I met a women who's mother got a nice medal for have 500 japs surrender to her and 1 officer). If you want to know how well anti tank rifles were against japanese tanks look to 39' instead of '45.

The fact is that japanese never really emphasized on tanks; but at Khalkin Gol they were pretty sure that the Red Army was ill-equipped and ill-motivated.

Result = epic failure, especially for their tanks and their aviation; PTRD-41 is great at mauling HT, armored car and light tank, in other words everything the japs had. In comparison, japanese infantry only had molotovs to fight with tanks (which worked well in fact).

If PTRD's were overkill imagine the IS-3 in manchuria.

Not really useful; even T-34 could clear every position, as the japanese infantry lacked a good AT weapon (they made a good copy of the bazooka, but too late). Anyway, they were in such poor state that anything could have beaten them, PTRD or not.

Not really useful

:o I'd rather crew the IS3, and I think the tankers of the time would agree with me!

Believe it, or not, for fighting japanes at Khalkin-Gol T-34/76 was more than enough. It was like a King Tiger of the fight.

Re: How good were PTRD and PTRS anti tank rifles against Japanese tanks in Manchuria

I know t34/76 could handle any armor thrown at it in that particular theatre of war - however wouldn't you rather crew the IS3 instead of the t34? thats what im asking

Frankly - T-34/76:
1) speed,
2) maneuverability,
3) amount of ammunition,
4) fuel spent per km/mile,
5) distance to go before refueling.

Methinks the PTRD cut through the Japanese tanks like a hot knife through butter
