Italians II

Hi guys, i saw a post about the Italians, but couldnt answer it.

As I have been reading, Italians did took a place in the war, even if wasnt too much, they did. The main problem if Italy was the economy and that they didnt have enough resources to make enough Military vehicles, even tough, A game doesnt necesarily has to be 100% accurate, mostly has to be 1/3 accuracy , 1/3 of coherency and 1/3 of playability.

So here are some ideas about why they should be put on.

first of all:

The Carro Armato P40.

The P40 was an Italian World War II tank design. It was armed with a 75 mm gun and an 8 mm Breda machine gun, plus another optional machine gun in an anti-aircraft mount. The official Italian designation was Carro Armato ("armored tank") P 26/40. This designation can be understood as follows: P for Pesante (Italian: "heavy"), the weight of 26 tons, and the year of adoption (1940).

Heres a Link to a picture:

Light tank: Fiat L6/40 , heres a wikipedia link where you can see that it was completely a Light vehicle, in the game, it could be use like a Bren Carrier, i mean, a pretty light vehicle of starting making with not much defensive power and ofensive, but that could make it as a quick mobile annoying tank.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_L6/40

Fiat M11/39 ( Medium tank) this tank is middle defensive and middle offensive, capable of facing enemies tanks with not much armor, would be like an Stuh42 with more agaisnt tank power but lower armor.

Semovente 90/53 , this is like a Marder III, pretty much high stoping power, anti-tank mainly and with a short design, this tank in game, could be improved to have better armor or speed, this , isnt absolutely history accurate cause, even tough its speed was improved in the war, its armor wasnt, so the armor wouldnt be that powerfull but not that weak.

Its infantry was pretty hm... Pretty... hm... Not bad not good. Always in the middle.

In one hand, they were mostly outnumbered and also they didnt have enough equipment due to economic crysis but in the other one they fighthing skills (for the sh1t they had) was pretty good and exceled in mostly of the battles, i know that they got Ra****d but still, as i say, compared with what they had , they were pretty good so give them a break.

Here is more equipment and support vehicles as well as equipment weapons that could come in handy to make Italian Faction a reality.

Now, about buildings.

I was thinking that, even tough Italians werent the master of the Sky as the Luftwaffen in WW2, they did had some atack aircraft like the excellent Fiat G.55, the idea is that, like the barracks and thank hall and those main buildings, you could build a "Regia Aeronautica Support" , which consisted in something like the american place where you build mortars and machine gun teams , but this, you could make Aircraft like any other unit, but, it wouldnt enter in direct combat, it would be off map, also, you would just "Request" and pay the "Request" price, then, when its built, an hability would appear with the  image of the plane you requested, you would be able to use the plane over and over without wasting ammo or more fuel.

Obviously the planes you could buy would've limited, for example, 1 Exploring plane, 2 Fiat G.55 (Machine Gun aircraft) and 2 Bombers (Savoia-Marchetti SM.89) for use.
The habilities would've much recharge until could be used again, they wont cost anything since you already paid for them and if one is taken down, the hability dissappears until you buy a new one.

Their role as a new Faction, Italians i beleive, could be mostly a Dependent and supporting faction with decent enough tanks to pull a fight , but, the lack of flexible infantry would make them probably almost the slowest advancing, but, in contrast, with some upgrades and their tanks in the field, Italians could own, and, if you add the Airplanes Idea they would kick ass supporting friendly trops and making many traps over the place, i wont continue posting since if you guys dont like the idea, why should I, i would waste time.

Consider it, it would be a great addition to your mods guys.

Sincerely: Edward.

I won't be too sure about it ;D... There's a team on RelicNews that is adding the French resistance and the italians to CoH. Looks promising.

Re: Italians II

OK, so let me get this straight you want a brand new Italian faction on the EASTERN FRONT mod. Well lets start with the usual NO because if you want to include something that we won't be including anytime soon (or possibly ever at that) make it yourself.

Now i see you also want them to build planes as regular units. Yea, NO, not going to happen for 2 reasons, the inclusion of a unit that most units in the game cannot even target, and then the ones that can do so are extremely inefficiently at it is a total no no, especially when its outside of a doctrine (I hate how useless most AA is against recon planes or strafing runs) and planes don't play an important role in this game (as this game is focused mainly on ground forces)

The Italian armed forces will get some sort of representation in the Ostheer (as a Foreign support unit). And if I recall correctly most of the Italian tanks didn't even serve on the Eastern Front, the Semovente 90/53 wasn't sent to the East, neither was the P.40 which if i recall was used more by Germany than the Italians themselves.

So in the End of it all

[move]NOT GONNA HAPPEN[/move]

Re: Italians II

That being said, Eastern Front won't have a italian faction. So I'll lock this because there's no need to discuss something that ain't gonna happen. However, as @neosdark said, Ostheer will feature italian support ;). IF the italians were able to deploy a tank, it would be something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semovente_47/32
