[[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

Hi guys,

Just wanted to point out that I think there are some issues in gaining veterancy vs. Red Army. We (Moonwalker, walki1, TheDierzianPL, Killar, a random SU guy and me) had a game a moment before and walkis Marder killed an IS2. Usually, a not-that-hard tank like the Marder would gain veterancy after killing such a beast (it didn't). On the other hand side, I was told that the Guards receive one step of veterany after killing just one Stormtrooper (don't know if this is actually true, but I was told). Can you confirm those issues and how do you rate them?

And to SU fanboys: Please don't flame, I'm neither an Axis fanboy, nor uncontend with balance.

Thank you for reading and posting,

Maxi

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

I dont see anything wrong with it, nor does anyone else I know. guards are supposed to gain veterency faster than any other unit because they represent the most experienced and elite troops Su had. So technically  since they're already highly experienced vets they should come with vet, but they dont so they gain it faster than any other SU units

the veterancy shouldnt be changed at all

why the nerf soviet crusade again maxi? i swear by the time you fanbois finish with the SU will be unplayable and UP
and I,will no longer be playing this mod along with alot of other :P

I'm not inclined to discuss "impressions" - gimme sheer nubers, and we'll talk. Meanwhile there's no actual topic to be discussed...

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

@REDcommissar: I never joined any crusade. Not against balance and not against your loved SU faction. I just seemed odd to me, not just me, also some others I was playing with. Most of the nerfs you imagine don't take place at all, finally, it's up to the balance experts.

@IJoe: Here you are. Numbers.

IS2 - dead - last shot by Marder III. Veterancy gained: 0.

You can also watch the replay if you want.
To make this post a little friendlier: :)

Here the announced replay:

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

For example. If airborne sqaud kills a panther it gains 2 Vet and now a Marder III kills a IS-2 and doesn't get vet... ridiciouls.
I build 2 Stromtrooper sqauds in that game (3 men) (vet 0). They fought against 2 guard sqauds in close range without the shock guard upgrade and then one of my soldiers was killed and one sqaud of the soviets gain vet 1.

Another thing. Why the Guards anti tank grenade has such a fast cooldown? The PE player needs to wait for 180 seconds (needs to pay 20 ammo) and the soviet player is able to throw a AT grenade every 60 secs for free.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

Stupid random kick, we would won surely if the game doesn't kick me (and not the random SU player, he was a terrible lagger).  :(

Anyway, that's strange about the Marder III...I think that a unit who kills  big units like IS-2 should gain at least about 1.5 vet. level.

If the Marder III stats are the same of vCoH (should be in this way) maybe Devs must change the "Award bonus Vet." of some russian unit.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

I'm guessing these veterancy problems are bugs, rather than intentional buffs/nerfs.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

yeah maybe this should be moved from the balance section

Thanks for moving, blackbishop.

Could you devs please take a closer look at the awarded vet of Marder vs IS-2?

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

Moved to bugs section.

IS-2 gives 16 exp. just as panther does (airborne needs 8 to vet 1 and 16 for vet 2). Marder needs 12 to get vet 1. Clearly there's a bug.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

And how about the Guards? Vetting up from only 1 infantry kill is way too much, for any unit.

They get 7/14/28. Slight less than Airborne, don't see a problem there.

thank you FFS, 7/14/28 for a unit thats THE MOST EXPERIENCED soldiers in the army. you can unjustly nerf whatever you want axis fanbois but dont you dare touch the guards. thats the last straw

they're designed to vet faster than other SU infantry its part of the units core design, and their vet1 makes them unsupressable by the time they hit the field MG42s are usually gone anyway so u really need vet14 for any use

they're the only thing we have that can handle axis vet 3 infantry, and they still struggle at that

Each stormtrooper gives 2.5 xp to the killer, guards will need to kill three stormies to vet up. Saying that killing only 1 stormie to vet up means that guards already ate something else as appetiser before eating the meal.

I cannot watch the replay here but i find abnormal what you saying pariah, also you cant watch the replay either.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

Well i was just relaying what Maxi said. If Guards aren't meant to vet up so quickly, then that means they either killed something else before, or there's a bug.
#67569

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

xp is equal for both factions (US & SU) you cannot get more as soviet than you would get from amis. Then again we need to look at the replay before saying is a bug. The marder 3 one looks like it is, but guards doesn't.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

A guard sqaud has more men so it should get slower vet than a smaller Sqaud like in this case 3 stormgrenadiers. I still don't know how the 2 stormgrenadier sqauds with MP44 lose against one guard sqaud in close combat :P.

Nonsense - all soviet squads are larger then those of other factions', what is compensated by their troopers' lower health. PGs are on the contrary the healthiest basic infantry. Simple as that. So these arguments absolutely fail the basic logic test.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

Most of this thread is rather pointless. There may be something to the Marder bug but as for the guards, without any proof that they vetted from one kill there's nothing to discuss.

There is simply no way 2 full MP44 stormie squads lost to a single guard squad unless there was an insane nade. Proof is needed to back up this absurd claims.

Squad size has nothing to do with vet.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

Re: [[IP address redacted]] Unit veterancy

I did, but the only thing I actually saw was the Marder bug, the thing with the Stormy was reported by walki. The question of the Marder bug is done, so I'd agree to Dennis and lock this. If there are complaints left, just send me a PM.
