Heres a rare historical reenactment of an Il-2 attack. Dont mind actors talking in Polish.

This is actually nice. To see all the military equipment of back in the days in action (more or less :P).
Can you provide more links of those high quality WW2-action vids? Iw ould be very interested in it. :D

Luckily, the ATank HT and and car was not destroyed, we can still use them in next scenes.

Pretty cool. I always wonder how WW2 shows get their WW2 tanks and whatnot. Like this. Where the hell do you get a Cromwell?

Mostly, replicas or vehicles of museums are used.
Btw: You just posted my favourite scene of BoB :D

Most of the german vehicles that are used in movies after the 50´are either reproductions or allied equipment with german crosses.

You're right about the bad example.. when I watched it the first time, I saw that one of these German tanks should be a StuG, but it was build on the chassis of a Panzer 38 (t). Just crappy.
Look at this picture - it's just ugly and has actually never existed.

Actually it should represent a marder III which was indeed build on a Czech tank. The same vehicle was used in the movie saving privat ryan. Its on the right chassis but a reproduction from a former swedish tank (sweden did build Czech tanks under license during WWII)

The stugs you see in the scene are reproductions. 2 Stugs were build for this movie using 3 FV432 chassis. 1 was build by 2 cut chassis to represent the 6th idle wheele of a stug3.



the other one had only 5 wheeles (like the original FV432 chassis). The original chassis:



The Jagdpanther in the scene (the same vehicle like in the post above by snappingturtle at 6:50) is build on a t54 or t55 tank:

The guy in the tank got burned becouse the turret hatch was open.

And after the reenactment they all got drunk.
And the guy is fine, just minor burns.

Warm clothes (lots of them) and snow on the ground.

I'd agree with IJoe here.. it's a film. It's kind of unrealistic that this guy burns for more than 30secs and is still alive.. His clothes would have been burned, even if there are many many layers of them :P

As I happen to know a bit about fire, his unprotected parts (open skin) would be definitely burned to the bone in a matter of seconds, so it is just a crappy movie, in that particular aspect, at least.

Less than 15secs is what I saw, and his clotes were burned.
How cold is it in Finland in january again? He had a hood could (I know I would) turn his face away when flames (was napalm invented by the US in WWII? I belive that late war flamethrowers were more dealdly) hit him.

Man, did you take the basic physics course at school? You can't just "turn away" your face from the fire!
Besides, take an interest, google the temperature of the flame. And in Finland that particular year was up to -30 (some say -35) degrees celsius. Believe me, that's far from saving you from the open flame - on the contrary. But that's another basic course - anatomy.

Basic psysics? Fire goes upwards, water is a great coolant.
You know that was a real man (stuntman) burning there with some clotes on and some antiflame gel on his face. With some luck that Finish soldier would only need new epidermis and some eyebrows.

Stalingrad is a rather crappy movie in terms of historical correctnes.
Though the dialoges are sometimes quite funny (examples from the vid postet by Paciat):

"I look like my grandma!"

A:"We workers have to hold together!" B:"I passed the A-levels.."

A:"Where the heck is our artillery?!?!" B:"You are the artillery!"

About Sommarkatzes post: No comment.. it's just an opinion of Germans that is, sadly, so wide-spread.. People associate something like the Swastika, Deutschland über alles, Hitler and so on with Germany.. get this out of your head, people!

I posted that battle only as a joke-example. Im suprised how people spend insane amount of money and then are afraid to get a little dirty or sweaty.
IMO historical reenactments are all about blood sweat and... fun. :D

Nawh come on XD I love it. Just a bunch of japanese guys doing what they love. Well, they are japanese but I like to pretend they are some fictional japanese voluenteer unit hehe ^^ (Their is actually a really great manga about that subject .)

Like Paciat said. Reenactments are all about blood, sweat and fun and they seem to have a lot of it ^^ They aint hurting anybody XD
