EF Automatch night?

Hello everyone!

Since there's an ever-increasing amount of people playing this mod, and I've already heard from several people that it's a pity nobody plays EF on ranked, I got the idea to organize an

Eastern Front Automatch Night!

For the uninformed: What is that?

We all go online at a certain time (lets say 12:00 GMT) and play auto matches against each other. Playing ranked with EF is possible, as long as everybody has got the newest EF version (atm: 1.31).

It's also possible to play all game modes (ranging from 1on1 to 4on4 random/AT).

What are auto matches?

Automatch are ranked games. You know, the games that start when you click on the huge "PLAY!" button at the top of the online screen...

Although there are no stats for soviets basic matches there is a leaderboard for the soviets in the official automatch statistics (just click on "statistics" at the top right on the main screen when you're online and choose faction "soviets". There are currently ~ 200 people listed with a total of like 200 games.



Who would like to participate? If there are enough people I'd try to organize a time and day for this. Please post in this thread if you would like to play on ranked.

The first automatch night will be on Thursday, May 19th, 2011,

Good idea Id love to participate

Im on every night,we need to know everyones time zones otherwise "night" is kinda ambigous.

Im US eastern time! I play between ~10pm-5AM
some people play at different times we need to figure this out

So, my availability converted to GMT is:

2-9AM GMT

I've always wanted to do this and even suggested it before. However, night for the rest of the world is usually early morning for us here in Oz.

Then we build it around a time available for as many people as possible ;) It does not have to be an evening for everybody.

For example we could start at 16:00 GMT, which could be late morning for some, and for others it could be early evening

No Soviets dont have ranks. But there is a Soviet automatch leaderboard

There was a huge 1vs1 event in the past, because the event was postet on gr.com.

Would be nice if that happens again when the new patch is out.
As i remember Devs wait for the new relic patch before they release a new EF patch for better balancing.

Best day to do it is either friday or sunday. Here is a link of what im talking about:

The time for the tournament is 7 PM GMT, which (due to daylight savings time) is currently equivalent to 21:00 CET and 3 PM EST.


Automatch day could be done at similar time.

Can someone, please, show me some screenshot with that "soviet statistics", 'cause all I get, is my personal stats for four factions, that are absolutely irrelevant and meaningless to me, and to the particular cause ATM.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO! I had to wake up at 5am to play that tourney.

This wouldn't be a tourney anyway. Just a general timeslot where people play ranked games rather than basic match. Even if you don't personally care about ranks or the leaderboard, competitive stuff like this allows the mod to grow and attract more people.

The current leaderboard is from 1.0 where the SU was drastically OP. That's why they all have insane win:loss ratios. We need to correct it.

i only remembered the timeframe of the tourney most people were pleased with :-[

What timeframe would you suppose?

3pm Eastern is never good for me, I'd have to RUN home from school to catch that and miss work  ;)

The Automatch "night" will last several hours. No need to hurry  8)

WEll I don't have time this weekend, and next week I'm on vacation in munich. I proposed doing it on next weekend.

Automatching is the reason why I still play on vanillah CoH.

Okay, I'm back! :)

I think it's best to organize several automatch nights during the next weeks.

So if you can't play on the first you can still play on the next. I imagine around 6-8 depending on how many people are willing to play.

The first one will be tomorrow, Sunday on May 8th, 2011, starting at 1 p.m. gmt. I think its best to make it "open end", so we'll play we don't want to anymore.
If you don't know what time 1 pm gmt is in your country use the gmt calculator on my first post.

Everybody is welcome! There's no must to play soviets, you can also play US or brits if you want to.

As a sidenote: I need a few players (~ 3 people) to test the 2on2 AT on bugs, I need some investigation on this since I think that there will be bugs when playing with soviets in there.

Hey I was there last time. I was having such a bad night that I had to call it though...

I'll play - the time is just a bit awkward for me. I'm the type that isnt on EF during the daytime, nights only :) but I'll make it a point to play

well, they should be frequent on the weekends and on working days. No need to worry. The next one will be soon ;)

Good idea. We should put in a chat channel. "Mods Chat" sounds good.
