CoH in the early days.

I got my copy in '08 so I don't know how it was and I'm reading this: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?121279-Contribute-to-the-next-CoH-Patch,the earlier posts say that the scherk rounds went through shermans.

Sounds like hell for those poor scherkers

Re: CoH in the early days.

It's not as bad as you think; Sometimes a round would go through the Sherman when it was supposed to bounce off, inflicting no damage (from what i've read).

Re: CoH in the early days.

The first time i played CoH in a pc that let me see the units correctly, I don't remember seen that case(however i'm sure it happened) also i don't remember how the ace looked like.

Re: CoH in the early days.

You mean the Tiger Ace? As far as i can remember, it looked just like the standard Tiger; It just had better stats. I guess you could check in the original campaign...

Calliopes with working guns... :P

I played the CoH beta online in 2006, I remember using Prop War on somebody and they were like 'OMG, BUGS! My troops just retreated for no reason!'... I was like...

Re: CoH in the early days.

Actually, that is something i was always wondering about; Did relic disable the Calliope main gun in Opposing Fronts to make the game more accurate to real life, or for balancing reasons? Does anybody know?

Re: CoH in the early days.

Apparently...
One, the T34 (Calliope), saw some action in France, and also minor action in Italy. It could not fire it's main-gun while the rocket-launcer was installed.

The other, the T40, mainly saw action in Italy (but very limited). As far as I know it was never deployed or used in France.
The T40 could fire its main-gun while the launcher was installed.
So, both most likely. I think the one ingame used the T-34 launcher.

Re: CoH in the early days.

I think they did it for balance reasons.. Relic never was a friend of realism, as you should know ;)
Calliopewas just like a Chuck Norris on Battlefield, it's rocket barrage was just OP and the fact, that the main gun was working made it to something nearly unstoppable.. and then plus Pershing made the Armoured Tree just too OP.
Imagine a Panzer IV with walking Stuka upgrade.. with 12 rockets on it and working main gun.  :o

The Hotchkiss PE has is similar to the Sherman that has been, but is weaker in all points.

Re: CoH in the early days.

Yeah, i realize Company Of Heroes doesn't really have much in terms of realism, but it's by far the most realistic R.T.S. i have played! (Although i have read a bit about Men Of War, which sounds alright.) Company Of Heroes is also the first relic game i've played.

Probably becouse with UK secured resources and Firefly support allies were too powerfull. That sherman was also too powerfull compared to StuH.
US also didnt have any real mobile arti.

Compare Calliope to Churchill or StuH...

Remember the days when you recived an extra Stormtrooper squad to every called StuH and Tiger? StuH cost was 700MP then, Tigers 1000MP.

I remember that!! I liked blitzkrieg doctrine because of that, when I bought OF, that was gone and always promted to download the lattest patch. I miss those days when you could play coh offline without worring to insert the disk to play. I would like to see the changelog of that nerf.

Re: CoH in the early days.

Yeah, playing without the disc again would be cool, but i'd be happy if they just changed the required disc to Tales Of Valor! It's just that my Opposing Fronts cover is getting pretty worn out from being opened and closed all the time... Hey, maybe in the future the required disc will be Eastern Front!...

Re: CoH in the early days.

Calliope main gun was removed in patch v1.5... so, a little while before OF, probably in preparation for it.

Stormies are still on the Urban and Assault Squad call-in icons, always irritated me a little.

Did the sherman get a complete buff in 06' or 07'?

The Tiger Ace in the Terror doctrine I'm pretty sure it was like the Schultz's Tiger in the American campaign, black with the Panzerdivision icon.
In my opinion, it's the best and cooler Tiger skin. ;)

Re: CoH in the early days.

Oh, yeah, that was a great deal of fun back in day! It would only happen for me when i put my Sniper in the church on Route N13 and he shot at a Jeep. Although the Jeep would kill him instantly. :(

Re: CoH in the early days.

Yeah, but when a soldier dies they like to give a medal to their family. I have no idea why, but they do. (I've seen it on television.)

Medal is usually accompanied by some material profit. Basically, the more significant is the medal, the more money one gets for it. This money would go to the family in the case.
