Why can't the Flak 36 have a proper nickname, like the Flakvierling? So much easier than goddam numbers...

Seriously: The Wehrmacht used the number of the developments age to differ between the weapons, to make a good system, to make it easier. For the soldiers, there are nicknames for those vehicles (you all know them). Just take a look at the list of the SdKfzs ( Sonderkraftfahrzeuge = special motorised vehicles). After some time, you'll see a system behind it (main battle tanks SdKfz. 1X1, and so on).
It's intended to make it easier, not to complicate things, dear REDcommissar ;)
