Install help plz

Hello, I am trying to play EF for the first time. I am having the following problems when I try to run the installer with admin rights via Vista:

Its states after the launcher is opened:

"ERROR It appears Easter Front isnt installed on your computer,
try reinstalling"

I dont play the game through steam and this is the path I chose to install it: Programfiles>THQ>Company of heroes

Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Do you install CoH or do you play with a backup up?

Not sure what you mean? I have the first COH from CD, then the others are from DIRECT2DRIVE.com

I mean... sometimes you format you hard drive to reinstall windows and just copy the folder; when the OS is installed you just retrieve the folder backup.

Direct2Drive huh... did you installed CoH from dvd and then do you "installed" the others from Direct2Drive??

While I was trying to get as many errors as posible from EF launcher, I get this after Installed DVD version along with Steam Version.

First - Installed Retail CoH - OF and update. Installed EF and update. I have all the file patches, so the process was offline for both of them. Everythings work fine.
Next - Installed Steam version of ToV, without uninstalling Retail CoH and let Steam update. Installed EF and updated offline. Steam CoH works fine, but EF crashes and give me that error. Each Eastern Front install had their correct path settings though, it's just that the registry of windows had been messed up ;D.

I hope this scenario be your case :P.

hmm ok, well I'm not going through all that trouble of uninstalling and repatching everything lol. But thanks so much anyway  :)

You don't need it. Can you backup the games from Direct2Drive? Steam has an option for that. If you don't have the patch files on your disk drive, I suggest to backup the D2D game, uninstall both versions and reinstall the D2D backup, I never used D2D so I don't know how to do that process.

If you don't want to do all this, and if you have both versions installed and up to date, you can install EF on your first CoH install path. I don't remember if you must uninstall EF before putting in other directory, but I think it doesn't matters.
