Unfortunately, until you start using storms your T3 strat will be countered by these quick vehicles most times. In Stormtoopers we Trust. You had the spare manpower and munitions to easily afford at least one squad.
Weapons damage isn't affected by range, only their accuracy. Almost every weapon in the game is more accurate at closer ranges, with the exceptions being snipers, bofors and perhaps a few others. Specifically, the puma has 0.5 long range, 0.75 medium and short range accuracy. It has no negative modifiers against airborne armour either, making it an excellent weapon against upgraded Russian troops. It is heavily affected by cover though.
The puma upgun has 0.75 long, 1.0 medium/short acc with a 0.5 modifier for infantry and airborne armour types. This means it will hit and kill an infantryman approximately every two shots. It will also always penetrate an M8, Stuart or M10s as well as shermans from the rear (0.4 chance from the front). With vet 3 they do the same amount of damage as a Panzer 4 main gun (which only has a 0.6 chance to penetrate a sherman from the front).
*These accuracy numbers are halved when the puma is moving, but are unaffected by the target moving.
The PRTDs fire the same projectile type as a bazooka, you just can't see it. Bazookas are one of the few weapons able to reliably hit the puma's phase armour so these do as well. The received accuracy debuff still applies though.
NKVD have about the same total firepower as a gren squad with low health per man. Remember that, as you kill members, total squad firepower drops. The elite armour on grens MASSIVELY improves their armour and makes them much tougher than an NKVD squad. You shouldn't charge with volks anyway, find a way to lure him to you using an MG42/sniper/other irresistable target. Or if there's a lot of clutter, cover hop until you're in medium range and fight him from there.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.
