Does Anyone Use NKVD Conscripts

I'm trying to experiment with differenting units that I've never used before or that frequently an I was wondering if it was worthwhile to use NKVD conscripts when you can have access to upgraded Strelky or Guards. If they are still used, how?

If I play 1v1 automatch type game I use only NKVD Conscripts infantry (with Ingenery and Commander of course). Strelky and Guards upgrade are too expensive for me, more important things needs to be upgraded first like: light or heavy tankovy upgrade, Ingenery upgrade, PTRD AT rifles with Close range support upgrd or AT gun with Medium range support upgrd. Later T34/85 or Su100 has more priority again then infantry upgrades. IMO it's not worth it to pay 40 or 50 Fuel + 100 Ammo for these upgrades in such short games.

They are the absolute last thing I buy in terms of upgrades just because of the whole popcap thing.

Try reading my strategy guide. NKVD is often the only upgrade I get from the armoury before tanks. It is a phenomenal upgrade when, like wordsmith said, you need to spend those resources on more important things. It also upgrades existing units on the field to have the molotov cocktail, which is one of the few upgrades to affect existing units. These points are extremely important in a 500VP match (ie. automatch conditions).

But you toss away the ability to buy almost endless hordes of conscripts without cutting into the popcap you need for things like tanks and support units. That's just too high of a cost for what you gain. Even if it was free I'd still avoid the upgrade.

Except you can only get 5 squads these days anyway. I used to agree with you in previous patches but not anymore. Give them a go and see, they're a very worthwhile investment.

Even so, it can be a total game saver when you suddenly lose all your territory and are well over your popcap, but can still buy 5 conscript squads.

Though by that stage, vScripts would be useless in combat anyway.

In 1.20 the streaky will have to pay 35 for weapons, so now conscripts will be better

But does anyone use them in 2 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 3 matches?

Although I haven't done many competitive 2v2s as Russians, only against, I would probably use my main 1v1 strat and get an army of conscripts to hold me over while I rush vehicles. I would get my partner to probably go T2 prop and use trenches/kats/snipers to hold the line and kill blobs I couldn't until my tanks are out.

In more player matches it depends on what my team mates are getting, mostly I use unupgraded Conscripts and upgrade Ingenery instead or get Close range support with upgraded PTRD teams + Ballistic vet for Mortars. Later I go for Tankovy upgrade (Su85 or T34) and as Infantry I use unupgraded Strelky then. It also depends on map/situation and doctrine, what I feel I need I upgrade.
