Are they ACTUALLY open minded??

Just wondering.....
Do Devs ACTUALLY take ideas from the general public? Or do they tend to stay in their own little idea bubble? I see alot of people posting some pretty cool ideas on here, but no feedback from the modders unless its telling someone their own idea or just informing someone that that individuals idea is virtually impossible.  If anyone knows of any ideas taken from here, please inform me.

(This is not ripping on the modders, Im simply curious)

Thats a good question......I dont think they do take ideas from the EF community.

The suggestion phase for the Russians has mostly passed and instead they are listening to the community's opinions of balance. I've recognised many of the changes in recent patches from the forums, many of which I've contributed to. They might be taking ideas for the Ostheer, I don't know. If you do make suggestions though, remember that balance is paramount. So no railway artillery that one-shot everything in a nuclear blast radius thank you.

We can't take balances ideas from anyone, especially people only player vs. AI. Against the AI all balance get screwed up (extra much/little HP b/c modifiers on difficulties).

Reborn clan is one of our major "sources" for balance suggestions. We do of cause look at the forums and pick bits here and there, one example is the strelky spam thread of 1.10, also the conscript pop cap thread of same version.

Ok so all the threads posted on here (regarding new ideas) dont mean a thing? Such as veterancy systems, new units/ability ideas? And you just toss em aside??
So basiclly youre saying, once you guys (the devs) get together and talk it out, tend to be very narrow with the plan and stick with the main ideas? Not allowing outsider ideas?
And you use Reborn as your "lab rats" (so to speak), and tend to use just their feedback when it comes to new ideas??
Balance, yeah ok, but theres alot of cool ideas on here that should really be taken into consideration. You guys have something great on here right in front of you.....dont waste it.

Look, like I said in the other thread, don't join the forum and then shoot every single mod down to the ground because they don't want to use every single idea on the forum.

In a brief Statement:

Mods CAN NOT take every idea and combine them all to make one giant jumble. Nor are they likely to take into account 1 single idea and leave it as is.

They take the ideas and build from them and add their own stuff. They look at the suggestions to create their own ideas.

Sure, my Ostheer suggestion didn't work out the way I hoped. But maybe one or two of the mods likes the Ost Pioneers/Field Pioneers system, and will consider integrating.

Tearing the mods to shreds literally seconds after you join the forum seems very negative and aggressive.

B) Dont be a little baby, just because someone likes to talk straight forward and get to the point doesnt mean they are a bad person. Im just curious, and I apologize if anyone's sensitive feelings get hurt...youll have to get over it

wow, what is wrong with him asking a simple question? Well we got the answer...no they mostly don't. Unless its from this "reborn clan" they take ideas from one clan only.

I think some of you have got confused.

We consult our Reborn contacts for serious advice on competitive balancing. However, somewhere along the lines, someone has twisted that to mean "We don't listen to the forum!", probably because they are miffed that their special idea wasn't used.

Every single idea is read, and many ideas are discussed by the Eastern Front team within the private forums or via XFire. We generally don't like to interfere with community ideas, which is why we don't appear as active on these forums. Yes, we have shot down numerous ideas, but that is because we don't fancy the P.1500 Monster or the Atomic Railway Artillery. It is quite clear from our patching process that the core EF community here at this forum is our primary influence for changes to the Soviet Faction. We carefully regulate which ideas we can use and which ideas we can't.

Oh, and the Ostheer is pretty much comprised of community ideas. Hope this wraps up your concerns.

I'm sorry, but the only person who sounds closed minded around here is you... judging by your name, your personal text and the way you responded to cranialwizard. Not ripping or anything...  ::)

If we couldn't give a toss about the community, why would we bother to keep these forums going? It costs money to keep running, it would be easier for us to live in our own little bubble and just update RelicNews every 6 months, but we don't... we have these forums so we can learn more from the playing experiences of our community and break any suggestions or problems into groups so these are easier to follow and not buried in a sea of posts. Yes, we are the Devs and the ultimate end decision of what goes into the mod is our own, but just because we don't comment on every thread with a 'cool' idea does not mean we don't read these threads.

I'd like to know what these cool ideas are that's brought you to make this post in the first place.

@YKN  As usual I side with WartyX and Rizz on this, they obviously listen to the community, check the Forum, they held a poll that could've taken out two of the Factions and given Ostheer & Soviets Retreat and such , but the community said no .

Good to hear that the Ost is comprised of a lot of community ideas. A lot of us joined here after the planning for soviets was more or less complete. So will be cool to see who's idea's got incorporated...

Ok, this is not the right place for this but it is the right thread. I got a great idea that you got to take seriously. Give the Soviets a spy. A beautiful half naked babe riding a bicycle. She rides up to a bunker with a MG42 in it. The Germans lay down their weapons and come out to talk to her. Then you sneak up and waste them with your infantry, lol.

That's your blank statement that basically says:

"No offense, but I'm going to start ripping you guys."

You basically told the mods that they think they are better than everybody and we have no say.

And what, you've had experience? Psh.

Telling them your not ripping them and then going right ahead and tearing them apart to bits must make them feel a bit sad, I'm guessing, since they put so much work into this awesome thing and you end up telling them that they are arrogant.

Not only must it sadden the mods but it irritates me.
And as you can see, the community is behind me.
