Ostheer sooner then we think?

Take a wee gander at WartyX's avatar. Looks like a variant of the Volksgrenadier icon. An icon for the Ostheer maybe...? Methinks something big is coming...

maybe...but it might also be a concept which just he played around with in his spare time. I don't think that the devs would really add anything too similar to WH's Volks in the OH release :P

You think they are mere Volksgrenadiers? What an insult! I think you are looking at the wrong end of the unit spectrum.

I think it is the cap instead of helmet what mislead those boys - my guess, it is a Gebirgsjäger with rope coiled around his shoulder :D

Depends on what you think, it may be sooner then you, it may be later then you think. And I cannot say which one, because my mind-reading skills are still in development.

Yeah I thought it was because of the cap too, but I wasn't really betting on them being Volks since the devs don't like copy-pasting. :P it might be a Gebirgsjäger, Brandenburger or even an Einsatzkommando(!) lol. No one knows for sure  8):o whatever it is, I'll just keep my fingers crossed  ;)

One of those guesses wasn't even close. The other was almost there.

Well, I think that most important thingin WartyX's icon are those binoculars ( or whatever it is) on the hat-  IMO that suggest some kind of motorised infantry, or engenieering troops.
Rizz's avatar has freakin' shadow on face added to black or dark helmet so I think he is one of this dirty SS guys ( that's not offence Rizz).

That's not a shadow, that's a german toque, sorta like a balaclava.

On WartyX cap I can't see Totenkopf so that's not SS. Well, M43 was used by almost entire German Army, but this camo on the jacket... Well, let's say that's Gebirsjaeger. Wrong again?

I think Rizz's is some sort of engineer/mechanical unit for repairs and such, based on the very mechanized look.

As for WartX's, I'm leaning Gebirgsjäger (for those who don't know that basically means "mountain hunter" or mountain soldier. They're the equivalent to the US' 10th Mountain Division) based mostly on the rope and the goggles, however I do not see an edelweiss on the side of the cap, but I don't expect that much detail on an avatar.

Based on Lord Rommel's avatar I belive that the Ostheer will come from a galaxy far far away and will be very OP.
The death star will be the msot powerful late game unit. It would be broken but awesome.

I'm also for WartyX's avatar being a Gebirgsjäger, however I'm not sure about Rizz's. First I thought of SS or something along these lines, too. But now...  :-\

However, this is what the community needs. Not exact release-dates or facts carved in stone but little things like guessing-avatars. The DEVs don't give away too many facts but at the same time we're excited about the Ostheer and the upcoming patch. (If these "avatars" will be featured in the OH at all... Who knows?  ;))

Speculation is all nice but it is WAY too early to make any realistic assumptions. Even we don't have an idea of of a possible time table...and even if we did...it would probably never actually be followed LOL.

To sum up, we have NO time table and if we had one we still wouldn't tell ya  about it ;)...but its defo NOT soon in any sense of the word

@all: rushing things will not help this mod so please be patient. Don't you all remember how first release of EF [1.00] was unbalanced because it was rushed out? Do you want a good playable mod which take some time to make or you want a quickly made unbalanced mod with bugs which then no one will play?

...Some things just take time, patience gentlemen!

Hehe you think it was fixed with [1.01], [1.02], [1.03] or [1.04]? Even when I'm sure that devs sincerelly do maximum possible to create balanced Soviets, it is a long run... take Relic f.e. and PE how long they took to balance it. And result is that PE is NOT 100% balanced even now. Not to mention Brits...

Balance is important - and here is where community could help, play EF and try various strategies, approaches and then write a feedback. There is some hardcore yet small group of players playing EF -> be patient, play EF and write any good feeback possible. Only this way we could help devs to make progress. :) Not by rushing them and asking when finally the patch or Ostheer will come.

I think Rizz is nothing, I think he just took a Grenadier, darkened the cap and put some sun glasses on him.
Would be neat if there were Gebirsjaegers, but I don't they'd be useful in the heart of Stalingrad or on a Siberian steppe.

So it is a real unit? Not just you making a Grenadier look cool and using it as your avatar.

I'm too lazy to make my own post. One of our 2d artists did these (WartyX to be precise) for Ostheer Units. That includes the one I'm using. If it's the final version or not, I don't know.

Yes I didn't mean only this short period before new patch but continuous effort. Because some players stopped to play EF due to balance issues and I meant: if someone cares about this mod he should play it and write feedback. If someone stoped playing it means he doesn't really care about it...
