absence of updates......absence of players

this new update .05 or whatever............has seemed to have vanished into dust........along with the players of the mod...........:( my question is are the devs still trying to update it or is that the last update and were done.....the mod itself seems dead yes one or two servers are always up but I mean come on I remember the good old days where HALF of the servers were Eastern Front I see ALL these new faces everywhere on the forum WHERE ARE YOU IN THE GAME we need to play Eastern Front gentlemen or it will die....it will die a horrible death of starvation....A starvation caused by the lack of players of the game itself one update is all it takes for a mod to become alive once more....something so when you tell someone "hey did you get the update" they say
"oh for that buged to hell game Eastern Front"
you can say something like its changed......get people to play the bloody thing and it will live!! People lets do this I want this damn thing to live as much as the rest of you lot but we need to play!
get on the game and play people and an update will inspire the people to  ;)

I'm also waiting for this update...  :'(

nonononono you don't get the point you need to play now to respect the update and for people to know that there is a mod; most do but they think its unfair I hope with the update it will be fair so tell them that!

I agree on the topic... I stopped playing EF after my comp died a day or so after 1.04, and was waiting for an update up until now... This is my first post since-- a long time. :P

PS: I haven't seen Loupblanc on for a while... did his computer blow up?

Last thing i heard was 1.05 is ready and Dev Hawk has to upload it...

honestly, this guy is too right.

Just some news maybe some pictures of reward units or pictures of the upcoming ostheer.

I'd prefer a delayed 1.05 to iron out ALL issues than rush it and need another patch.

I'm sure the developers aren't going to bury and forget this mod!

A "katyuska" killed 6 or 8 of my KCH just driving into them, i got totally PWN, i was so sad that i quit the game.

status updates on the progress of the patch would be nice

I think I read over on Moddb that the guy in charge of the updater had dissapeared somewhere and they needed him back to release 1.05

So perhaps they're just working on new stuff whilst waiting for someone to come along and fix the launcher up etc.

Its fair to say that the majority of people dislike the lack 'no retreat ' function which also makes the faction less than 'new user' friendly.
Coupled with the no re-crewing,no true vet,inability to use prop war and lack of ranking online it seems to have discouraged the majority of people from online play. As such your best bet is to get to know people in the forums and pre-arrange games. Everyone else plays single player comp stomp.

'When' the patch is released it will only address unit balance issues and teching, but none of the above.
Although I'm sure it will somewhat re-ignite online play for a brief time, those who wanted the above things amended will still not get it ,so I wouldn't expect online gaming to be on any decent levels and certainly no where near what it was in the first 2 weeks (the good old days).

The only bug that is really annoying is freezing production queue when armory upgrade is completed. like when you're busy with your frontlines and sure that 3 upgraded ingenery units are ready to be deployed near the HQ building when you need them - then you move camera there, oops, no one...
so...Blizzard's "done when done" should work perfectly here)

Aye, sadly it seems people who play CoH for a better rank and all that stuff didn't take to the lack of it in EF.

I still think its one of the bestt mods I've ever played and just enjoy the single player, with much better AI :D as I could never find a way to make my skinpacks and custom reward units work for online.

Looking forward to future updates anyhow :)

It is all about reaching the tipping point. When a large enough part of the community play EF that becomes the norm. When the next pacth comes out you should try to post it on GR.org and ask if it could be poseted in the in-game news section. If that is not enough try to get a EF tournament going that will force a lot of the better players to play until they have a deep understanding off the game and this will result in strats and guides posted on gr.org which will increase the amount of attention the game gets.

If everything else fall I can assure you that when the OStheer comes out many people will begin to play again if only for a few weeks.

We've tried that from the beginning but doesn't work.
There is a good reason why there is no mod section in GR.org for any game. Its because the majority of people there don't play mods.

The staff there effectively did a 180 degree change in their attitude towards the mod once it was released. From enthusiasm it then turned to 'don't bother'. They never even shoutcasted a single EF game (not that there are many submitted)

They were not interested in running a tourney and perhaps that is rightly so due to the number of features missing from EF. When there is no player interest in GR for EF, they won't waste time running an unsuccessful/unpopular tournament.

would it at least be possible post a note on the front page of gr.org it migth not be enough to get every one to play EF, but some people will see it and begin to play it again.

I think that the main reason why so many people stopped playing so fast was because of the 1.0 balance. If 1.1 is better than people might come back.

Indeed... who gives a f#@&$ about rank anyway. I usually play against the PC, even if i play campaign instead of skirmish, i always use Eastern Front, in my opinion, it replaced Tales of Valor. I eagerly wait for the next patch for our beloved partially official add-on ;D.

P.S. You already stated the next patch will bring balance to russians(1.05), that's mean patch 1.07~2.0 would bring the ostheer? I'm just being optimistic, that's all :).

You can't really blame the community, it seems like the whole EF team went underground for a couple months now, no news, no patches. The only thing that keeps the community alive is the community itself wich is starting to die slowly :'(.

anyway hang on there hopefully theres comming a 1.05 with the greatest balance fixes ever  ;D

Whilst we havn't had as much news and updates as I'm sure some people would like, other than those nice re-skins over on Moddb, compared to a lot of other mod teams the EF guys are pretty vocal.

Maybe they just want abit of a rest haha

When EF was announced, I remember I did'nt believe it and, now, thanks to EF team, we can play it!! Soon all players wil play at EF, we need only a means to inform them!

I hate to be the Devil's advocate here but if the update doesn't involve a date in which we can expect the 1.05 patch or some sort of completion update of the Ostheer people probably won't really give two flying foo foos...  Point is, is this is a good mod, problem is that the Dev's APPEAR to not care anymore. Yes I understand RL has a way of getting in the way of this stuff, but its been over a month since the last update for the mod... eventually all but the most hardcore followers will have left and gone on to other mods/games....

I play Blitzkreig until Ostheer comes out.I'm not good against Comp or players -.- unless its in BlitzK, There I am average.but yes an update would be nice.

Well, if not an update for patch 1.05, i think it could be about:
a) ultimate ostheer's list.
b) Relic colaborated to solve recrewing bug.
c) reward units/new skin for units/replace units.
d) campaign info

I suggest a huge concept update for russia, or the
presentation of reward units.

I made this thread to give hope to the people of the forums but.....it seems like people will not hope for anything these days

Yes that's a good idea.  If times to play were set up ahead of time, people wouldn't be the 1 person looking for a game at that time and give up after 2 minutes and go back to normal COH to play.  Everyone misses each other like that, even if there are several who want to play.
