Computer will not check for updates when launcher is run

This only started happening yesterday (11/3/2010). When I run the EF launcher to be able to start the mod, it normally checks for updates. Now it refuses to connect to the mod server to check for updates and displays a connection error. Any ideas?

Yah, mine won't check either -- even after pressing the button.

my happend the same  :( :( :( :( :( :( it sucks i want the downloads back !!

Hi Guys

The server which the Launcher attempts to find the latest versions is currently offline, this is why your launchers are giving this error when Checking for updates.

If you need to download patches while its down, you can so from this link

I apologise for the updates server going offline, but I can now assure you the issue is solved. There where a few issues with the update protocol, becoming unstable under high traffic of users.
I have now redesigned and re coded the server protocol to be more efficient at handling clients. This will not effect the client Launcher in any way and you should be able to update and download as usual.

i think the server went offline again today, i suspect hawk is working on some more fixes for it

Sorry about the update server being offline yet again  :-\ .
It seems the issue was not solved. I've modified the protocol a little and dealt with a few visible issues. The server will be online again today allowing me to assess the issues at hand if there are any.
If it runs smoothly and issue free, hopefully the update protocol will remain stable and won't have to be taken offline again :)

I do not mean to be a bother, but as of Monday, may 17, 2010 at 10:03AM i still cannot update. I love the mod and if there are any updates out I want to be able to get them as soon as they are released, is there a fix for this problem out somewhere for DL? I have client version 1.04, and launcher version [IP address redacted]

Dont worry when a update is going to be release the launchers updater will start working again.

The currently server (that responses to update checks) doesn't handle a lot of user connects at the same time (it crashes then).

Hawk (the guy that's in charge of client + server) has improved the stability of the server already, and I believe he's working on something that will (hopefully) fix it for good.
