T-34 for the Ostheer?

T-34 for the Ostheer?

With the nature of the first two years of the Eastern Front, a lot of Soviet equipment fell into the hands of the german forces during their many advances into the country. It was quite common to see soviet tanks in use as war booty, usually repainted with distinctive markings. To keep things different, the axis T-34s would be always the 76mm gun variant, since the flow of russian equipment into german hands had slowed significantly as the initiative changed hands before the T-34 85 was introduced, but the german crews are much better trained.
what do you guys think?

Re: T-34 for the Ostheer?

not a bad idea, but i think there will be enough new german Ostheer tanks, that i think there will be no need for a reskinned t34 with some other stats for the ostheer.
But if so i would give it less armour as the rus. version because it got damaged as it was captured and a fast repair isnt as good as a new tank. But ur right with the accurancy.

Re: T-34 for the Ostheer?

I think it is a horrible idea, even it is historically correct , i think the Ostheer should be German and to give the Ostheer a t-34 , the symbol of the Russia tank forces is bad , because for this tank you could use a German tank , which takes the places of the t.34.

I think that this will create shitstorms when American, British and Russian players want Panthers and Tigers because historically, they managed to capture some.

Re: T-34 for the Ostheer?

This isn't Codename Panzers or Command and Conquer Generals... stop trying to take other factions tanks.... why would you want to anyway?

Capture yes, use not so much. There were instances in the Africa campaign of the Brits and Aussies pressing Italian tanks into front line service, mostly because of the absymal quality and limited numbers of their own tanks, and the Russians made use of captured panzers whenever they could. The Americans were VERY reluctant to use axis tanks, most likely due to the high level of training required to operate them. It was mostly the germans that were fully commited operators of captured equipment, undoubtedly due to their industrial output always failing to keep up with the demands of the armored divisions.

Re: T-34 for the Ostheer?

There were a few instances on the eastern front of the germans offloading captured T-34's to russian turncoat units such as the Kaminski brigade. but as a game concept its fairly ridiculous.

I am - SO - totally - for... Axis / OstHeer / Finnish
call-in T34's ;)

Maybe 2 at a time. Or one with a 105mm BT variant :)
You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity

Some? 20 captured damaged Panthers is not the same as 500 captured undamaged T-34.
In 3 first months of fighting Soviets surrendered more man and equipment than France in 1940 (hotchkiss light tanks and Gwagons are in the game). Germans took 3 times less casualties. There were many unused T-34 that german captured.

Re: T-34 for the Ostheer?

its just not a good idea overall, because think about it... If you see the Ostheer running T-34s into your base you are gonna think 'Well damn I want a Panther because they have T-34s' and you will...Also the Allies did capture quite a few undamaged Panzer 4s and used them. So why can't they use them??? See my point?
