Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

I was playing a game and noticed my friend liked tanks so I got the map was red ball express (not my favorite) I got a crap load of these Firefly tanks I never really used them before until then. My friend made a move to take a point with ONE sherman and then I saw 2 panthers, 3 hummels, 1 panzer 4 and a king tiger! I just went for it, then I saw I was winning my 7 fireflys and 1 churchill tank! When the the fight was over I lost 2 fireflys and the churchill. While they lost the hummels the King tiger and 1 panther. Never new that the Commonwealth had such a mighty (and cheap) tank

Re: Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

- Well, the Firefly (This one has canadian flag markings!!!) is
the british Marder3. Xcept it's 2 pop more and has NORMAL
sherman armor (Less than american +MG sherman)(It's a M2
not an M4). But it's 140% range and has godly anti tank
abilities ;) ... ... ... but it's a *LOT* better with the HQ
cromwell along (around +40% efficiency) ;) Rawr.

... It's not that cheap. 100 fuel? And it's got less armor
than regular sherman (Not much though). And it's SPECIALIZED. It sucks against infantry. And up close.
Think of it as an up-armored Marder3 with a turret ;)

DO NOT use it as a tank. Let churchill or cromwell (Not
Leader Crom) take the hits ;)
You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity

Re: Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

- Sherman Firefly WAS used by Canadians :)
- Sherman Firefly had a 17 pounder ;) Meep, sowwy! :)
Yea, keep 'em in back, and use 'em like Marders and Germans
are screwed. Xcept got average armor and no lockdown and
1MG, and turret ;) (And +2 pop) THEY NEED THE CROMWELL
LEADER TO BE GODLY! :)
They also reload slower if target is too close.
- Well, not 'the last'... I'd say the last ones are in museums ;)

** Yea, Churchills are just big shields. That'S what they're
for. To take the hits while the Firefly do the killing.

Re: Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

kinda off topic, but fireflies DO reload faster at range, just cracked open corsix and saw the reload time modifiers:
Distant: 0.65
Long:    0.65
Medium  1
Short    1.2

Re: Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

- Bastex : Ah, but you didn't say in ACTIVE service, did you.
And they were POURED INTO not Poored in to ;) Wouldn't
know about that. Apparently a lot of panthers had that done
to them as well. But I figure using regular 17 pounders might
achieve better results than pouring concrete into tanks...
besides being expensive, it would have negative happennings
on the driver and crew :p
- Newcomer : See, I told you :) Surprise! :) Didn't know?
Check COH-stats.com the website :)
- Ford_Prefect : Sorry, I was gone to a party with friends,
been busy of late, tend to leave my comp online unnatended.

You are there. Or You're there. Not Your their ;)
Mr.Cheney!? What kind of name is that :)
... Wrong place to talk of this, though. Keep threads on
topic, fool!

Look at Firefly stats and compare ;)
Also, er... yes! The Firefly is better than regular Sherman
against tanks... but that's all it can do. It's like saying
The 57mm AT gun is better than the sniper... ... better at
what? ;)

I find regular US sherman is WAY more polyvalent :)

Nobody said this so Ill just add that Firefly has only 550HP while Shermans/Cromwells have 636HP.
Firefly is also slower than a regular Sherman and much slower in rough terain.

Re: Commonwealth fireflys VS. two King Tigers

It takes SOOO long to build though and the brits cannot have 2 armor trucks to speed mass production. It is so slow me and my group have a joke where the British have to delve into the orient to capture the essence of a firefly and then complete the sacred voodoo melding ritual of man and machine US of A before it can be christened and sent across the ocean to Britain through the teeth of see monsters and wolf packs (U-boats). You would be amazed what happens at 3 in the morning..
