Well I realized that no dev posted a response to my idea of adding a mobile 88. You guys have not really started on the Ostheer really yet right, right? :(
I would like to see a thing or two I helped to think up in the mod if you guys can :)

yeah but if you add all that there is like almost no difference from the Wher. or PE adding a mobile 88 into the Ostheer would totally change the inner making of the OShteer making people want to play them.

- The problem is that the wehr are pretty 'german' already
and that tiger/panthers/88, etc, are all 'must-have' if it's
to be representative of the eastern front. I'm all for mobile
88s as it works well with the weaker tanks (Pz2, Pz3)...
Just like the americans AT57 and Sherman/M10 combo.

I don't think people would want to play Ostheer purely for
the mobile 88, though. I think other-country flavor is just
perfect, though, for adding to this faction. Make it different

Well, sure. If you have the talent. I certainly have enough
vision for it :)

But one issue is that it would split the community. Would
be nice if we could have this one mod feel just perfect for
everyone, yea?

lol OK I would also like to see Romanians and Italians in the mod, but adding Finland......It's just doesn't make ANY sense.........I mean I think I have seen a map of Berlin on a video, so lol having the Fins as support in the Battle of Berlin would NOT make any sense at all. Adding Romania and Italy though would make SOME sense I would like to see them

Excuse me if my WW2 Eastern front history is a little hazy, but did the Italians actually participate against Russia? Romanians I can see for sure but I'm unsure if the Italians were involved in the East. Can a history buff please enlighten me?

- Yes, Italy participated greatly in the Soviet assault.
And are part of the reason army Center desintegrated, as
they couldn't hold their part of the front :)
Hitler wanted to bolster their line with German troops, but
that didn't happen... thus... ;)

- !!!! Finland was perhaps *THE* staunchest ally that
German had against the Soviet Union. Rumanians gave up
in late 1944 when they were overrun. Italy gave up in
late 1943!! As for Berlin, that's late 1945. You won't see
any half-rifle conscripts, T70, T90, or T34/76 (40, 41 or
43 turrets) and probably no T34/75. No SU85 (They were
SU100 then)(And didn't participate either way). ISU152,
yes. over a thousand of them.

... No Sherman 75, no M8, no ... dude, list goes on and on.
Should we make a call to exclude EVERY vehicle and race
(British and americans didn't participate on crushing Berlin)
from COH? :)

OstHeer - EAST ARMY - Didn't exist then. So by your
logic we shouldn't add finnish in OstHeer because they
were not in the fight at Berlin... (Nor was the OstHeer

T34/76 is pre-1944. (1943 is latest just about) then they
all switched to T34/85's. The SU85s switched to SU100's.

Most fought until late 1944. Italy converted to a republic
in 1943, but fought on till 1944 as well.

The two principal belligerent powers were Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. The Soviet-Finnish Continuation War may be considered the northern flank of the Eastern Front. In addition, the joint German-Finnish operations across the northernmost Finnish-Soviet border and in the Murmansk region are also considered part of the Eastern Front.

Exactly. EF is fully compatible with vCoH, so the US/Brits will be able to fight with the Red Army on one side.
Taking this into account, the Ostheer (Loup is right here, it's named the Ostheer -> Eastern Army, which doesn't involve any hint to a "German-only" faction.) having Finnish support seems to me just like a very, very minor "problem".  ;)

Plus, no Hotchkiss were in Berlin, I can assure you of THAT!
So they ought to be purged from PE. And... (Rants on and
on about all other units and factions to wipe out from Vanilla
COH because they were not in the final soviet-Berlin assault)

dude it just does not make any sense to add Finland as a "tech unit" or just as a unit. I mean YES they did fight in the war (no they were not Germany's most important ally (did ya wiki that loup ;D) if anything it was Romania, Romania gave Germany most of their oil during the war. Or Italy sense they were able to start the war in Africa and were slightly able to try to hold the Sea

OK fine well if there a call in that's just not sane. Making them a tech tree unit does not make any sense, they should have one or MAYBE two units in the Ostheer itself

Someone made a army north (with finns), army center (pure german?) and army south (with yougoslavs/something else).
In Berlin, use wehrmacht.

Besides, it would be illogical to see Hotchkiss (french tanks)
and british/americans fighting on the same maps as Soviets,
and we are going to see plenty of that, so, meh ;)

God that recent release looked hot. I'm against bedsprings
on SU85's though. And didn't they look just a tinybit OP?

Anyway back on topic I think a mobile 88 would be a good idea but make it take like a minute to set up and another minute to pack up so you would want to use it like a normal 88 except you can make it mobile when say your defenses are getting destroyed and you want your 88 to live to fight another day then pack up and get out of there :)

1 min to pack up? Heck, I'd more use it to advance, as my
frontline advances. Personally, I think Wehr and PE's 88 should
do the exact same thing. The Bunkers dismantling give
ressource back, etc. But, eh. Balance issues? I don't know.

Well I just said 1 minute just as a suggestion. I don't think it should be that long but I don't want people whining about an 88 that can lock down in 5 seconds take a shot and then move again in 5 seconds, were would the tactics be in that?

1 min is really a bit long, but at least 20-30 secs are needed, so the 88 won't be used a offensive-weapon. Sorry loup, but the 88 should be more of a defensive weaponry rather than a Blitzkrieg-"dont need tanks cuz I got 88"-thing.
Also, the mobility should be only used to make this damn thing more mobile ( ;) ), not to enable it escaping from artillery-fire or advancing enemy infantry.
