moblie 88

Every German nation in this game gets a 88 (if you get the right tech) I would like to see the ostheer have a mobile 88 though (not a tiger) but like what Rommel did. It should take them a long time to set up and go somewhere else but in case of emergency they can leave

Re: moblie 88

This would be nice, seeing as current 88's get the crap beaten out of them by arty. I think the 88 should be able to switch from AT to artillery as well, seeing as that is how they were used in the real war

yeah and pluss that they get destroyed by arty

Re: moblie 88

How should a mobile FlaK 36 work?

It was much too heavy to be pulled around by its crew, furthermore making it "attachable" too vehicles like HTs would be an unfair advantage over the "old" factions, since they can't carry their heavy guns with vehicles.

In contrary I'm all for leaving the 88 completly out of the weaponry of the Ostheer.  :P

I am sure there are things that can be done to even it out. Also putting a timer onto it so you can only shoot it once in a while would be something to even it out (p.S. It would kind of be like a nebelwarfer, besides that you would need to make a skin for a vehicle to go with it.

Re: moblie 88

the 88 was the in the early years one of just a few weapons that could beat the russian t 34/76- never ever leave it out for the ostheer

Re: moblie 88

imagine some 88s built in your base that slowly are moved near the opponent base until they shoot and destroy it while they are covered by other troops... instant & easy win? not a bad idea but, is it really possible to implement it in the game without break the balance? ???

Yes because a RELY RELY slow anti tank gun will definitely make it from one side of a 4v4 map to the other side without a single dint in it yeah???? I mean it won't come out in the beginning stages do you think I am crazy???? "LOL yeah lets let the Ostheer have a 88 in its hq so they can just build one of those right off and send it to the enemy base  :P"  There are PLENTY of things that can balance that out. (sending two or three conscripts and flanking it on every side would do it)

who talked of 4vs4?of course there's no problem with 4vs4 games, but usually the most played games on coh are 1vs1 :) would it be fair in a 1vs1?

they could simplify it by making a model for a opel truck. Kind of like the horses in Empire total war. Once they unpack they just hang around not doing any thing. When it needs to move they just hook it up

This could work with a high set up/pack up time. As long as it was at the end of a tech tree and was 3-4 Command Points

yes at the very end of a tech tree so maybe you wont even get it if you choose a different tech tree

Re: moblie 88

These vehicles were used in the Polish and French champagnes as mobile anti aircraft but later as anti tank weapons. It was a Flak 88 mounted on a Daimler-Benz 18-ton semi-tracked carriers. In 1940 15 were built and there were plans for 112 more in 1941-2 but they were canceled because they realized a full-tracked, fully armored vehicle was a better idea. But it still would be a nice addition to the mod.

No offense but........................I don't think that the Germans had many of those in the invasion of Poland

He didnt say that many were built, only 15. I could easily imagine that 15 could be slapped together by guys on the front line as opposed to built in factorys.

Re: moblie 88

Why make a 88 attached to SdKfz.?
There is already a mobile 88, the Tiger I. Also, there could be the Nashorn, though I don't like that idea at all.

The idea with the horses or tractive unit don't really fit into CoH.
Just a few arguments against:

  1. What happens when the vehicle gets destroyed or the horses get killed?

  2. It's very unlikely the DEVs are able to do an animation for that. I don't want to doubt the leetness of the DEV-crew, but I think it's rather difficult if not impossible to create such an anim.

  3. It just doesn't fit into EF, because EF wants to be an inofficial expansion. Therefore, it would be a bit odd when only the Ostheer has a basic ability like towing their guns to vehicles.

Re: moblie 88

It was more then less used as a mobile anti aircraft weapon to protect the tank columns. And I would think that the 15 that were built were being used as a trail to see how they would perform.

1940: 30 SdKfz. 8 were equiped with Flak 18 8,8cm for 3 anti-tank-units.
1942: 15 SdKfz. 9 were qquiped with Flak 36 8,8cm for some anti-tank units at the western front.
But no of this half-tracks were used at the eastern front ;)

Re: moblie 88

Just do it as they do in the eir and omg mod where you can just call in a truck that moves the 88. The truck can then move around and build it where you want.

But of course the truck has low low health and its a pretty long setup time (but still shorter then building it)
#12488

Re: moblie 88

That would be good, after setting up the 88 you can use the truck for troop transport and as a munitions vehicle.

88mm flak 18 (sfl) on zugkraftwagen 12to (sdkfz 8 ) build in 1938 and 1939 10 -12 vehicles... tragets: bunkers
these vehicles are called bunkerflak... used first in czechoslovakia, poland and france to kill bunkers and artillery observation bunkers later for antitank... fired in driving direction + 5° on both sides...

Awesome vs Snipers or Soviet anti-tank dog packs!

good god.......................I last checked 3 hours ago and you have gone on every recent post and threw a wall at every recent post.

Re: moblie 88

They were part humor, part challenging the person.
Throw in some ideas, not just be a nay-sayer.
You say you could counter half my arguments? Then do so!
:) I dare ya!

: Dead horses. Plenty of dead cow/horses on some maps.
: Pixel dust works too. Dead soldiers vanish after awhile.
: Impossible to model... false. Proven so. Just hasn't been
done - yet!
: Saying not to do something with one army because no
other armies can't do it... is... ... hmm, yknow, The british
are the only ones who use mobile buildings/trucks...

What's wrong with giving OstHeer an ability no one else
has, as LONG as it is balanced with other factors, and fits
within an overall theme other than 'Be OP, do everything,
with no flaws whatsoever'... nej?

Re: moblie 88

- Well, every faction/doctrine needs something OP to
give them flavor. I'd LOVE for americans to have mobile,
yet slow 105mm Howis. At worse, I wish I could abandon
them. Not have to artillery my own units to get pop back:p

But that's not going to happen anytime soon.
I've played codename panzers (mobile artillery)(Not the SPG)
the actual artilleries. 88 too. Same with Men of War.
Mobile artillery. I like that we can move AT57/PAK37 a lot.

88 is big, yes. But it moves in those. Just throw in some
maluses to make it balanced?

*
Oh god, no. I don't want ISU152 and IS2 to be overpowered.
I just don't want the IS2 to be a panther, and the ISU152
to be a Jagpanther?

I'd just want the IS2 to be a Pershing. With bad optics
(T34/76 flavor) and slow-ass reloading (As per history).
(Strong but slow) rather than copying the panther?
Maybe accuracy too.

The ISU152... is a lot more than a Jagpanther.
Play Man of War, etc, you'll see what I mean.
Poor optics, awesome armor, godly strike, shit poor reloading.
The 1940 version of T34 has poor reloading too, but that
was fixed in the subsequent versions (I heard they changed
the turret to the 1943 version, I believe?)

I was thinking longer-ranged AVRE with AP thrown into
it's HE. And similar to IS maluses (The reloading speed and
far from pin-point accuracy. StuH is a good example here.

I don't want overpowered, not at all.
On the contrary, I'm afraid IS2 will be overpowered, myself.
