ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Thank you devs for putting the change in :) I just played a game where I got to call in an ISU-152 and it was BADASS. TOTAL animal killer ;)

Just a small suggestion: Drop the name "Juggernaut" from the doctrine page and call it 'Zveroboy' or 'Animal Hunter' as it was nicknamed by the Soviets. Would be a nice addition IMO to signify the 'animal hunting' of the tiger, panther, and elefant tanks. Juggernaut just sounds so lame :P

Copied shamelessly from Wikipedia:

"The ISU-152 could also operate as a tank destroyer. In this role the vehicle inherited the nickname Zveroboy ("animal killer") from its predecessor the SU-152, for its ability to kill German Tigers, Panthers, and Elefants. For anti-tank operations there was a separate BR-540 armour-piercing round and charge. The large shells meant that a low fire rate of only one or two shots per minute was possible, but the large 48.9 kg warhead, fired at 600 m/s, was devastating to the target, often completely destroying it. At close range it could rip the turret off a tank."

Its other nicknames were "Glorious Beast" and "Big Hunter".

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

I like the idea of calling it the animal killer or animal hunter. Wouldn't to hard to change, just a String or 2 in the mod an a title on the site (Im assuming, never worked on game programming before)

This should be an ability  :D

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

I don't see the problem, its only the name of the doctrine choice, its not like we've renamed the ISU a 'Juggernaut'.

That would probably require remodelling every Axis tank in the game... not going to happen.

I can find french and english speaking russian accent girls
(and probably guys) :)
- Also...
The ISU-152 was liked by Soviet soldiers, as it provided an effective countermeasure to the German Tiger and Panther tanks. They described it as "Nekrasivo, no spasibo!" ("Not pretty, but thanks!").

How about renaming the doctrine ability :
Call in : ' Ugly, but l337 ' ? ;)

In-game voices. I know you are using russian 'american'
but perhaps, some references to 'Shermans' could be

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Maybe at a later date. Right now we are focussing solely on getting the mod out. Remember, when the mod is released that is the not the finished product, we will be preodically releasing patches that add more and more to mod, probably including custom sounds, extra vehicles, rebalances etc.

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Awesome :) I like that. Like typical RelicCOH/WOW, thus.
First version, eternal refining via patches.

I work in linguistics (French Canadian) and work and am
friends with plenty of Russian girls (Who know guys). So
just felt like tossing that in there in-passing ;)

OH! In the french forums, someone did a TECH/TIER
tree image. Which I have not seen on the english side.
Someone feel like adding this to the guide, perhaps?

It looks pretty good. It's even been out for a few months,
so... :)

Only focusing on getting the mod out?
Eh, then PLEASE release it now, and balance it on the go?

... I had to give it a try :D

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Yes! Back onto the topic! :)
the ISU152 should be an extra powerful, extra-armored
STUH42 :) Except with HE properties, in the case of a direct
hit? Longer range, but slower reload :)

As for the name 'Juggernaut' it means 'Can't be stopped'
'Dreadnaught' is 'fears nothing' :)
Naut/naught = Not.

Plenty of built in names for it, but they're longer.
It's supposed to be a nickname, not a whole resume :)

Dreadnought

Dreadnought (Дредноут) and Juggernaut (Джаггернаут) don't translate to Russian and are associated with British ships.

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

The reason I suggested the name change is, as artemis mentioned, Juggernaut does not translate into Russian.

We've all heard of the badass German tanks: The tigers, panthers, and pumas - well the ISU 152 is the badass that hunts badasses - the 'Animal Hunter' or Zveroboy.

Good argument, plus I like the idea of having an actual Russian Name. Call it the Zveroboy and put 'Animal Hunter' in the description

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Oh, I completely agree that it ate german tanks for
breakfast. But, ah, in a more artillery-way, which was
it's other (main function). I think it should function more
as a long-ranged StuH, with a long CD. Like 30 sec?
But who has a V1 blast that automatically annihilates
all and any german armor touched by it's blast. Infantry
too. And mines, especially. So we can count it as a
minesweeper :)

Zver' - Beast.
Zhivotnoe - Animal.
bit' - beat.
ubivat' - kill.
Zveroboy - "Beastkiller" (Hypericum)
The book "The Deerslayer, or The First Warpath" - "Zveroboy ili Pervoya tropa voyni"
So
Zveroboy - "Beastslayer"

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

hehe, I love StuH myself, specially after Relic changed
them :) (Check out the old one they worked in the old
single play free demo)

But, the ISU152 would be different, see.
Having like +30% range and doing perhaps +50% more
damage (and it being AP as well as HE) but having slower
reload, and being unique.

Would have a totally unique taste :)
Something between priest and SPG/AT rolled into one :)
Like it historicall was :D

(Although its range was 13 miles, but...)

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

Wouldn't be balanced :)
It'd be awesome if could use it as an Priest105/JP/AVRE
combo. (with a munition cost and a slowass reload time
and AP/HE combined)... Heck, the AP/HE buttons *ARE*
already in-game. Look at the tiger campaign. Also, the
Afrika Korps mod uses 'em successfully :)

I'd say about the range of the Flak88.
With about double the punch.
But 3x the reload time, or something.

This is doable, but only if its a one time call in unit (like the king tiger) and if the arty is not all that accurate and only fires a few shells.

Re: ISU 152 - Drop the 'Juggernaut'

It is a KT. Or a Tiger. It's top of a Doctrine Tree, and is
one only at a time. Not sure if it's a 1 time only (dies, and
bye bye) but don't think so. I mean, KV2 is rarer than this
puppy. They even went around in packs of 5 or so... ;)

I was thinking something alike the AVRE. But slower
reload, costing more, firing further and having HE/AP
simultaneous effects (or having option to switch modes)
(NOW THAT would be sweet).

The buttons are already in the game.
THAT would bring something to the game :)
Beast hunter allright. Perfect to flush out Germans :)

I don't think any one is arguing otherwise...its name was given to it by Soviet soldiers and I'm sure they knew exactly what primary role the ISU-152 had.

How about nerfing the ISU152 somewhat and allowing 2 to be

Germans : Few but powerful.
Soviets : Tons but weaker. Plus they were used in packs.
Mind you, german units were also used in packs, but... ;)
Actually, the germans came up with the idea of local

But, yea, 2 simulteanous call-ups does sound better.

The Germans also frequently called it "The battering ram" because of how fat the barrel was and the amount of crush damage the shell caused, the penetration was not that great but tanks crumpled like soda cans.
