Application for a gun modeler

Name:Kevin
Age:15
Ill give an email address later
What you think you can contribute to our mod: I can make accurate models of guns as long as I have sufficient pictures of the gun.
How active you think you can be: 1 hour a day on weekdays. about 5/6 hours on Saturday. None Sunday.
Previous work: Haven't worked on any official projects just practiced easy modeling until I got better.
Examples of your work: I have a svt-40 (name could be wrong) Its one of the guns on the list of weapons in this mod. Took me at most 1 hour.

The best texturing I can do is what you see in the picture. Its the basic coloring in 3ds max.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

How many polys is that? Right now most of the bear basic weapons have been completed, there are still some like the SVT-40 and other machine guns that need to be done. Also, CoH has a very, very low poly count on there weapons...

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Do you know what the average is for a gun?

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Something like the Garand is around 200, so we have been staying close to that.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

wow. that sucks. Mines like over 2000. I've never had to make a model with a certain number of polys. If there is anything else I could do to help, I'll be glad to do it if I can.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Could you make that model again, but with less polys? Then we can see how good you are with CoH.

ok. Ill try.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

This ones 295 polys and it doesn't have a scope. (Didn't know if you guys wanted it with a scope) I could add a scope with the addition of about 30-40 polys.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Can you make nice Russian style buildings, that would be helpful.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Cool, looks mostly the same without all the extra polygons. The butt ain't right though, too round, original was better. Im sure you can fix that without adding any polygons.

I've never tried making building before but I'm sure I could get it. Do you have any reference pictures of what you are looking for?

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Are you looking for the base structures or environment structures? Also how many polys does one a normal building in the game have?
#707

Re: Application for a gun modeler

Just general structures from Russia. I would say a tipical building is between 2000-4000 polys, but I don't know exactly. I would say stick to around 3000.

Re: Application for a gun modeler

heres an untextured log cabin. The way it looks now is over 5000 poly but with a small change (which doesn't make it look much worse when textured) I can make it under 1000.
