Soviet Snipers

I am a bit concerned that the soviet sniper team cannot cloak, this will put them at a huge disadvantage to German Snipers

In the guide it says " can ambush while in cover" does this mean they can cloak just like a normal wehr or US sniper but have to be in cover or does it mean they remain cloaked in cover until they fire the first shot like with Fallschirmjägers and Piat Ambush sappers ?   

The russians snipers are rather defensive as offensive therefore is the sniperace a sniperkillermachine.

Not to mention they can eventually call in precision artillery

yes that is a great idea! Lets get all of are info from one or two hollywood movies ;D

Technically, Enemy at the Gates isn't Hollywood, its British  ;D. And besides, vanilla CoH is riddled with film references.

It will actually be rather fine im sure.

The normal soviet sniper consists of a sniper and a spotter, which means that there are 2 guys that must be counter sniped before the team is dead.

If the first one is sniped, you get the second one out of there asap.

Europe In Ruins: Reinforcements created a British Commando sniper team that works the exact same way and it is quite an absolute hell to counter them with snipers.

Ex. Sometimes the Wehr sniper snipes the observer, and then the second guy with the sniper rifle automatically countersnipes the decloaked wehr sniper.

Imo, so long as you got the second guy you'll be fine.

Sorry if this has already been asked but what weapons will they have? Scoped Mosin Nangit or PTRS? I vote PTRS!

Depends when they are basing the units. And reallyk it should just be a Scoped Mosin Nagent because thats what most snipers would have been issued. Though it is fair to say later in the war (so maybe in the later period of the mod) they can have a PTRS, but i spose that would bring balancing issues, as a PTRS is highly powerful (literally one shot one kill, even if it isnt a torso shot) and has a much longer range, and from what i gather so far, the Red Army is already very powerful.

Hmm I think it'd be cool for the Sniper Ace to have a PTRS, although maybe he'd be a little too powerful with that kind of weapon...

It should be an upgrade, Because PTRS-41 where actualy anti tank weapons :0

In CoH, sniper rifles are one-hit-kill anyway.

So whats your opinion on this Warty?

i dont see the point to add a sniper upgrade, maybe the sniper can have more damage against vehicles with the upgrade, but with a antitankriflesquad an upgrade like this seems kinda overkill.

Sniper Ace Will be killed by 1 sniper shot? maybe a well placed Artillery Round? or... motorbike?

Sniper Ace is resistant to sniper shots, like the Officer and Knights Cross Holders.

So its like the CoD:WaW sniper fight, except the German is the ace

Don't you think that have the cloak ability will be a bit too abusive ^^ they already have the arty and they are 2, so I vote for them to be cloaked only when they are close to a cover, a bush, tree, etc.  ;)

Its a doctrine specific unit called a sniper ace. Why would it be worse than a regular sniper lol

Maybe the Tiger Ace should only have a 2cm cannon  :P

Ah, you are getting confused between the Sniper Ace and the Sharpshooters.

Sharpshooters: Tier 1 Buildable from Weapons Support, Cloak in cover and when stationary, sniper + observer, have very big LOS when stationary

Sniper Ace: Urban Combat Strategy unit, just like regular snipers, but kills all infantry in one shot, takes two sniper shots to kill, also have a variety of gadgets like grenades.

Variety of Gadgets?  :o

Can we get some spoilers? 

Grenades, batarangs and stuff?  ::)

Incendiary grenades? Satchel Charge? Smoke Grenade? maybe...

The Sniper Ace Model will be whit Cloak? (Literally)

It's definitely not recommended, and two mods which change the whole core of the game generally don't work together.

: The grenade used is a bangalore. It has V1 firepower
yet has 105mm Howitzer range. Only with no cooldown.
It also seeks and sticks to units when thrown. Changing
course in mid-flight, when necessary :)

Being soviet unit, it also has no cost.
But he is special in that it has no cooldown either as well.

No. tiger tank is fine with 8.8 cm gun.
The sniper ace can hold his own against the ENTIRE
german might :)

He has the super man cape.
He will grasp the tiger's 8.8cm cannon with his bare

Aye. I do know the sniper ace is a bit underpowered
currently, but they'Re looking into ways of making it
more powerful, for things to be balanced.

I was playing the Tiger Ace Campaign and i found this...





This AT Rifle made a decent dmg to Staghound very similar dmg like Common Sniper Vs Motorbike / Jeep , maybe a Bit more... like double... anyway.
