So, Ostheer Release can actually be played on Retail and 2.602.

My flatmate can play the newly released Ostheer on his retail/2.602. YES, the latest EF install. I have seen it.

How is he doing that?

The dude ain't telling me how and rubs it on our faces.

I'm not sure if there is more than one method to do it... so either he really did it or he is just pulling your leg lol.

1.) Install COH on Steam - it will autopached to V 2.702- install EF MOD on the folder
2.) Install COH Retail Version  an Patch to V 2.602
3:)Copy all files of the Steam Version(in ...\SteamApps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch) in a seperated folder
4.) Copy all subfolders of the Retail Version in the folder, that you created in step 3-  INTEGREATE -NOT OVERITE!
5.)Copy the "RelicCOH.exe" and the "Lua....dll" form the retail Version in the folder, that you created in step 3 and overite
(i dont know the name of the * .dll file- if show an bug-message you can read the name)

start the game and insert you game disk...

You can only play on lan and only with a person with the same version like you...

What a way of complicate things :-\. No one should do that ever.

Quite complicated, I hope that the current version can be played via LAN directly. The steam thingy always update for unknown reason sometimes and it takes some time just to play a skirmish game >.<

is there a better way then?

That not should be called a way to do it TBH, you just need to replace one file to make this possible. With this method you complicate things a lot :(.

What is the one file that you need to replace to make this possible? I would love to play this mod on 2.602.

Could you please explain the steps to get it working on 2.602?

I just figured it out! you just replace FactionFix.dll with the original one.

edit: So it comes with Eastern Front...  Do i have to replace the dll that comes with 2.xx with the one of the 1.7 version of the mod?  ???

I would be really interested in making the 2.xx Versions run on CoH 2.602.

you just replace the eastern front 2.xx factionfix.dll with the relic CoH 2.602 original one. ;)

Thanks to the guys who found the solution. I personally have two versions installed 2.700 for online playing and 
2.602 for lan and skirmish. Now again we can organize lan parties with new version of EF - that's great.
